TEAM

Woven by Toyota is constantly striving to create “value that does not yet exist in the world” through initiatives such as developing software platforms for vehicles and implementing next-generation technologies in Woven City. The Legal & IP Team supports these business efforts from a legal perspective.

Specifically, we handle contract review and management, legal consultations, corporate law compliance, dispute resolution, and the establishment of compliance frameworks. The topics we address include cutting-edge fields such as autonomous driving, AI, and robotics, and it is not uncommon for us to develop solutions from scratch for new challenges that existing legal frameworks cannot keep up with. In this fast-paced environment, new challenges arise every day, but we believe that is precisely what makes our work so rewarding.

Our team is comprised of members with high aspirations and a strong sense of curiosity. We pool our collective knowledge to tackle “questions with no single correct answer,” engaging in thorough discussions to find solutions. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a legal expert who is passionate about helping us create the best technologies in the world and supporting us in high-profile collaboration and partnership with companies worldwide through contract negotiations, considering both technical and business development strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Legal support primarily in executing contracts for R&D and business, especially those initiated and managed by Woven by Toyota

Review, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements in English and Japanese and agreement negotiations independently or collaboratively

Manage and review translations of various legal documents between English and Japanese

Manage legal matters with both internal and external stakeholders

Manage special local, regional, or global projects where required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of experience in the corporate legal department

1.5+ years of experience in reviewing and drafting contracts at a company’s legal department

Business Level Proficiency in English and Japanese. (860+ of TOEIC score)

NICE TO HAVES

Bachelors (and above) law degree.

1+ year of experience in working or training outside Japan.

Experience in handling litigations or disputes. (handling those matters outside Japan is a strong plus)

Experience in advising on or being involved in collaboration projects with other companies.
