Description

Trenam Law is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our Litigation practice which includes a busy Eminent Domain attorney in our downtown Tampa office. This role enhances attorney effectiveness by providing high-level litigation support and ensuring the efficient operation of the Litigation and Eminent Domain practice groups. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience in case file management, scheduling & calendaring, discovery support, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive legal and administrative support in litigation, eminent domain, and transactional matters
  • Draft, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and legal documents
  • Maintain case and client files in document management systems (DMS); organize and file pleadings, exhibits, and incoming correspondence
  • Manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, depositions, client meetings, and travel arrangements
  • Coordinate with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, vendors, and internal staff
  • Assist with opening new matters: gather relevant information, initiate conflict checks, and draft engagement and preservation letters
  • Submit check requests, manage attorney expenses, and assist with time entry and billing procedures
  • Support deposition and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and arranging logistics
  • Occasionally assist with visual materials or mapping data related to land use cases (GIS experience is a plus, not required)
  • Help maintain professionalism and client confidentiality in all interactions and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally within litigation or land use matters
  • High school diploma required
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems; iManage experience helpful
  • Strong knowledge of court filing procedures (both electronic and in-person)
  • Accurate, quality work product; strong attention to detail; highly organized
  • Highly responsive and able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Works effectively independently and as a team member in support of overarching goal of excellent client service

Requirements

Additional Details 

An on-site support role in a professional office setting with standard office equipment

Full-time: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (with a 1-hour lunch)

Occasional overtime may be required to finish a project or to help fulfill client obligations

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally within litigation or land use matters
  • High school diploma
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems (DMS)
  • iManage experience
  • Strong knowledge of court filing procedures (electronic and in-person)
  • Experience with case file organization, scheduling and calendaring, discovery support, and trial preparation
  • Experience with time entry, billing procedures, submitting check requests, and managing attorney expenses
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team supporting client service goals
