Locations: Fairfield, NJ and Mount Laurel, NJ
Status: Full-time
Work Arrangement: In-office during the probationary period; hybrid schedule available after successful completion of the probationary period
Experience: Experience preferred (law firm, foreclosure, or court e-filing a plus), but we will train the right candidate
A busy New Jersey creditors' rights law firm with a strong foreclosure practice is seeking a detail-oriented, organized Legal Assistant / E-Filing Specialist to join our E-Filing Team.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring legal documents are accurately prepared, electronically filed with the New Jersey Courts, and processed in accordance with court rules, client requirements, and firm procedures. Primary Responsibilities
- Electronically file pleadings, motions, certifications, and other legal documents with the New Jersey Courts.
- Review documents for completeness, formatting, and compliance with court filing requirements before submission.
- Monitor filing confirmations, court notifications, rejected filings, and deficiency notices, taking corrective action as needed.
- Maintain accurate filing records within the firm's case management system and client platforms.
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure documents are filed timely and accurately.
- Track filing deadlines and help ensure compliance with court schedules and client requirements.
- Research and resolve filing issues with court personnel, attorneys, and internal departments when necessary.
- Maintain organized electronic records and ensure all filed documents are properly uploaded and documented.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a law firm, foreclosure, creditors' rights, litigation support, or court e-filing is preferred, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce accurate work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Experience with electronic filing systems or case management software is a plus.
You'll Stand Out If You Have
- Experience electronically filing documents with the New Jersey Judiciary.
- Familiarity with New Jersey foreclosure or civil litigation procedures.
- Experience reviewing court filing requirements and correcting rejected filings.
- The ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
