Legal Assistant – Foreclosure Compliance Support (SCRA/Bankruptcy only)
Locations: Fairfield, NJ and Mount Laurel, NJ
Status: Full-time
Work Arrangement: In-office during the probationary period; hybrid schedule available after successful completion of the probationary period
Experience: Experience preferred (law firm / foreclosure a plus), but we will train the right candidate
A busy New Jersey creditors’ rights law firm with a strong foreclosure practice is seeking a detail-oriented, deadline-driven legal assistant to support our foreclosure compliance workflow, limited to SCRA and bankruptcy checks.
This is not a general corporate compliance role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in a law firm environment, takes pride in accurate documentation, and can keep matters moving in a high-volume practice.
- Perform SCRA (Servicemembers Civil Relief Act) searches and generate required certificates/confirmations for foreclosure matters
- Conduct bankruptcy verifications using PACER and related tools, document results, and escalate issues appropriately
- Track and update compliance results in case management systems and client platforms
- Coordinate with attorneys and paralegals to ensure files are clear for next-step action
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and follow internal procedures and client guidelines
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a law firm, foreclosure, or creditors’ rights is preferred, but not required
- If you’re trainable, organized, and accurate, we’re willing to teach the right person our process
- Comfort with deadlines, high volume, and detailed documentation
- Strong written communication for legal documentation and professional client updates
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); case management/client portal experience is a plus

- Familiarity with New Jersey court processes
