This position is being recruited by EQ on behalf of our wholly owned subsidiary, Bennington Financial CorpBennington Financial Corp plays a critical role within EQ's ecosystem, specializing in commercial equipment financing and leasing. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing legal and administrative support to the Legal team at Bennington. This position assists in a variety of areas including assisting the Senior Legal team in diverse litigation activities.

The work !

  • Assists with general administrative tasks within the department as requested
  • Prepare correspondence to various parties
  • Assist with steps involved in the litigation process
  • Manage incoming mail and administering the Legal ticket system
  • Perform various searches as requested
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, and ensuring that all localphotocopiers are filled 
  • Other related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor or General Counsel
  • The successful candidate will be given considerable responsibility and the opportunity to eventually operate his or her own files after receiving meaningful training from experienced staff and exhibiting the requisite skills and judgment. The position requires the ability to work independently and receive instructions from the Senior Legal Team.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must be organized, accurate and detail oriented. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) is essential.
    A college diploma/certificate in Legal Administration or Law Clerk is preferred, or alternatively, equivalent work experience
  • Cmmitment to learning legal concepts (reading materials, webinars, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the leasing or finance industry is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is also considered an asset.

Skills Required
