Job Summary

The Learning and Development Instructional Designer balances stakeholder interests by understanding their business needs and expectations. This role supports organizational learning initiatives by implementing innovative best practices and designing high-quality, engaging training programs that address specific knowledge and skill gaps. Additionally, this position regularly reviews existing training solutions to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance with industry standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Instructional Design and Development

  • Design and develop innovative training solutions that leverage various delivery methods to meet business needs. 

  • Maintain the integrity of existing training solutions by regularly reviewing materials to ensure alignment with business unit processes, goals, and objectives.   

 

Needs Analysis

  • Analyze the need for training by collaborating with internal clients to uncover specific knowledge and skill gaps of learners. Assist teammates in performing needs assessments and analyzing learner requirements.

 

Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to identify and understand training needs, ensuring our learning and development solutions are effective and aligned with organizational objectives. 

  • Ensure the success of projects by monitoring milestones and overseeing the overall implementation of initiatives.   

  • Develop, review, and maintain training deliverables to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business needs. 

  • Maintain the integrity of existing training solutions by regularly reviewing files to ensure alignment with business unit processes, goals, and objectives. 

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, supporting their professional development and helping them enhance their instructional design skills.   

  • Share best practices and knowledge with less experienced colleagues to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment. 

 

Program Assessment

  • Ensure training programs align with financial regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. 

  • Review and provide feedback on training content created by L&D teammates (quality and standards of team are met). 

Industry Trends & Best Practices

  • Keep current on professional training trends, business strategies, systems, products, and external practices. 

  • Share and promote best practices and current trends with respective teams to optimize performance.  

Risk Management and Strategic Oversight

  • Identify, assess, monitor, control, report, and mitigate risk in accordance with the Risk Governance Framework, in the context of specific accountabilities. 

  • Ensure compliance with organizational and departmental procedures by consistently following established guidelines, protocols, and best practices to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions related to the delivery of training programs.

  • Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to training program delivery, technological issues and program attendee experience.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent 

  • Minimum experience required: 2+ Years of experience in instructional design, training development, or a related field

  • Proficiency in eLearning tools (i.e., Articulate, Storyline)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Education, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent years of relevant professional-level experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of graphic design software.

  • Effective research and analytical skills.

Job Competencies:

  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts of adult learning and training methodology;

  • Strong creative and conceptual skills;

  • Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;

  • Meticulous attention to detail;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teammates at levels within the organization;

  • eLearning and graphic design software expert (i.e. Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud applications);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications; Ability to orient, train and/or assist in supervising junior level staff;

  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to present effectively to groups of varying size and knowledge level;

  • Proven time management and organizational skills;

  • Effective research and analytical skills;

  • Ability to effectively manage and lead multiple tasks and priorities;

  • Self-motivated and independent thinker;

  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit ethical behavior
