Location: Skopje, Nth Macedonia

Reporting to: Chief People & Sustainability Officer

The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for ensuring our people have the skills, knowledge and capabilities to perform their roles, grow their careers and to deliver our MAK-SYSTEM business strategy.  This role covers training, competency assessment, learning profiles, communication and documented knowledge repositories.   all learning, development and training at MAK-SYSTEM.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a strategy for the continuous improvement of capabilities and skills at MAK-SYSTEM
  • Own the end-to-end Induction process for new employees, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their role by the end of probation. Measure and reduce the time to competence for new hires.
  • Create and implement a strategy to create a culture of learning, growth, with internal communications as a centre point for building understanding, alignment and culture.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on managers to create annual learning plans linked to performance outcomes for their teams.
  • Develop & Own MAK-SYSTEM’s role based training matrix, setting out training needs per role type for all categories of training – compliance, QA, product, technical, domain etc
  • Develop & Own approach to assess competency of staff and ensure they meet minimum competency standards for the role.
  • Own and run MAK’s annual learning processes including Annual Learning Analysis, budget management and sourcing external training content
  • Own and implement an annual plan for internal communications including KM Portal, MAK’s bi-weekly internal newsletter, location-based Town Halls and Divisional Town Halls
  • SME for tech learning needs. Own and implement tech sections of Learning Profiles and Competency Assessments
  • Create and implement plans to build critical tech skills in our Skopje based population, securing our internal talent pipeline
  • Ensure all compliance requirements are met
  • With the Head of HR, create annual management and leadership development plans and source training.
  • Track and measure key KPIs on learning effectiveness.
  • Manages Learning & Development team

Previous Experiences/Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of tech and tech skill sets. Previous experience in a tech role would be an advantage.
  • Understands modern tech organisations and how work is delivered.
  • Highly outcome oriented. Demonstrated drive and action orientation.
  • Highly organized and planful. Able to set, execute, monitor and align others around a 12 month plan.
  • Demonstrates courage. Wants to learn. Willing to try new things and step outside of comfort zone. 
  • Curious and independent, able to generate ideas, create proposals and stand up new ways of doing things.
  • Highly collaborative, willing to take feedback, has a flexible approach, wants to be coached.
  • Strong relationship builder and influencer. Has gravitas. Understands how to network across an organization to get things done.
  • Strong data orientation, using metrics to assess and determine best course of action.
