SUMMARY: 

The Learning and Development Coordinator supports the planning, organization, and execution of training initiatives across SMS group. This role serves as a central point of contact for all training-related activities, ensuring seamless coordination between stakeholders, trainers, and participants to deliver effective learning experiences aligned with business objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning & Program Development

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of annual training plans and calendars
  • Facilitate the administrative collection and organization of training needs identified by department heads and subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate and maintain training program schedules, curricula, course materials, and related documentation to support effective delivery and recordkeeping

Scheduling & Logistics

  • Coordinate scheduling of training sessions, workshops, and seminars across multiple sites and time zones
  • Arrange facilities, equipment, catering, and technology requirements for in-person and virtual training events
  • Manage trainer availability, room bookings, and resource allocation to ensure conflict-free scheduling

Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for training inquiries from employees, managers, and external vendors
  • Distribute training invitations, reminders, and follow-up communications to all relevant participants
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders regarding program updates and changes

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and completion data within a learning management system (LMS)
  • Track and report on training metrics, participation rates, and program effectiveness
  • Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and training-related expenses in accordance with company procedures

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with external training providers, consultants, and certification bodies to manage schedules and internal training needs
  • Assist in evaluating vendor proposals and supporting contract administration
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external partners

Technical & Engineering Learning Support

  • Coordinate learning and development programs in support of engineering and technical departments, ensuring training content and scheduling align with operational and project demands
  • Liaise with technical subject matter experts to facilitate the delivery of job-specific training related to equipment, processes, and industry standards
  • Assist in organizing hands-on, simulation-based, or site-specific technical training sessions as required by engineering teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred; will consider relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a training coordination, administrative, or HR support role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with learning management systems (LMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize AI in verbal and written communication
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic familiarity with technical or engineering concepts sufficient to effectively coordinate training programs within manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environments
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with technical subject matter experts and translate program requirements into actionable coordination tasks 
  • Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environment
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and virtual training delivery tools
  • Knowledge of training evaluation methodologies such as the Kirkpatrick Model
  • Exposure to technical training programs involving equipment operation, process engineering, or skilled trades
