We’re looking for an Asphalt Leading Hand to join our Tauranga team. This is a hands-on role for an experienced asphalt professional who knows how to keep a crew moving, standards high, and the job running smoothly.

From site set-up through to final finish, you’ll help deliver Good Work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. If you like variety, take pride in quality, and lead best by working alongside your team, this could be your next step.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Support daily workflow on site and help the team deliver work safely, on time, and to a high standard.

  • Complete asphalt labouring and machine operating tasks, including equipment checks, material handling, and maintaining a clean and tidy site.

  • Take part in pre-starts, understand hazards and controls, and follow all safety, environmental and quality requirements.

  • Operate machinery and tools safely and only when trained, competent and licensed to do so.

  • Help guide less experienced team members and step into the Foreperson's role when required.

  • Proven asphalt paving experience, including leading or guiding crews on active sites.

  • Strong knowledge of asphalt laying, compaction, levels, joints, finish quality, and safe work practices.

  • Confidence coordinating people, plant, trucks, and changing site conditions in a practical, calm way.

  • A collaborative, accountable approach with a focus on safety, quality, and getting the job done right.

  • Current Class 2 licence minimum, with WTR endorsements
