The Rigging Leader provides global technical leadership and governance for all rigging, lifting, load handling, and transportation activities across the organization. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of critical operations through the development of standards, training programs, risk management practices, and engineered lifting solutions. The position partners with manufacturing, engineering, tooling, and EHS teams to drive operational excellence, reduce risk, and support strategic business initiatives worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the company’s global Subject Matter Expert (SME) for rigging, lifting, load handling, transportation, and heavy equipment movement activities.
- Establish, standardize, and govern rigging, lifting, and transportation procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Review and approve lift plans, rigging configurations, engineered lift studies, load calculations, transportation plans, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate and provide technical leadership for complex, critical, high-risk, and non-routine lifting and transportation operations across all facilities.
- Develop and maintain training programs, qualification standards, and certification requirements for crane operators, riggers, signal persons, and lift supervisors.
- Deliver advanced rigging, lifting, transportation, and load handling training programs to develop organizational capability.
- Partner with Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, EHS, and Operations teams to ensure product integrity and personnel safety throughout lifting, handling, transportation, rotation, storage, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Review and approve lifting fixture designs, transport devices, spreader beams, below-the-hook lifting devices, special rigging systems, and engineered handling solutions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation related to lifting and rigging activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, operational efficiency, risk reduction, standardization, and cost optimization.
- Support capital projects, new facility launches, and major equipment installations by providing technical rigging and lifting expertise.
- Conduct site assessments and audits to ensure compliance with corporate rigging standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Certification in Crane Rigging, Lift Planning, or Heavy Lift Operations from a recognized industry organization.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in rigging, crane operations, heavy lifting, transportation, or industrial construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, ASME B30 standards, crane operations, rigging engineering principles, and load handling best practices.
- Experience reviewing engineered lift plans, transportation studies, and custom lifting device designs.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and provide technical guidance across multiple sites and regions.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and risk assessment capabilities.
- Strong communication, training, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
