Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical expertise and support
- Provide technical support in wind blade manufacturing, supporting TPI’s diverse factory and customer portfolio. The nature of this position, although one of direct support, will require a wide range of ownership, leadership and accountability in the activities and tasks set
- Interface with program management, GTPM, quality, engineering and production organizations to advise/resolve/revise program requirements issues and ambiguities in the new product introduction phase capturing DFM, PFMEA and exceptions
- Support new product introduction as part of a multidisciplined team as a technical expert in design and manufacturing assessment
- Drive process improvement and best practices to reduce risk and increase profitability in TPI operations.
- Support technical initiatives with the assistance of a distributed team to achieve critical technical goals
- Provide mentorship and technical development of TPI’s engineering resources
- Support the creation of global standards, documentation, and processes to drive consistency in operations, to ensure safety, improve quality and reduce risk.
- Support areas of data integrity and data analytics to drive product conformance, performance trends and capability to identify areas of action/improvement.
- Provide technical support for TPI’s local/site-based engineering teams
- Share knowledge and experience in area of wind blade manufacturing
- Support activities at sites, reviewing processes, guiding decisions and supporting development of composites knowledge
- Be a resource to ensure decisions are made with necessary knowledge and support
- Support TPI’s internal audit function
- Support internal reviews of TPI’s manufacturing facilities ensuring, adherence to all safety, quality and customer requirements
- Develop facility and process risk assessments outlining areas of improvement and driving changes to support TPI’s core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC)
- Ensure process and approaches found in TPI facilities are aligned with customers design intent
- Support new material evaluation, approval, and introduction to manufacturing sites
- Support and advise Customer specified design trials and technical contact.
- Support the technical aspects of all manufacturing launches of new/revised products or requirements.
- Support continuous improvement including process, material, equipment, and documentation.
- Support directly and through team the product transfers from one site to another.
- Support Root Cause Corrective Action programs
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the following requirements:
- B.S. degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum 7 years related composites experience required with minimum of 5 years wind blade composite experience in a lead engineering role.
- Engineering drawing literacy and tolerance appreciation
- Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- CAD/CAM proficiency is a plus
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to set and communicate priorities, create a clear vision of goals
- Leadership skills
- Quality oriented and high attention to detail
- Ability to work with vendors, customers and employees
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Verbal and written fluency in English
- Experience working with high performance teams.
- Ability to maintain safe work environment.
- Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution (critical thinking).
