Staff Dimensional Control Engineer is responsible for overseeing the dimensional accuracy of EV body structures and finished vehicles, ensuring that product meet quality standards during development, post-manufacturing, and driving continuous improvement of new model programs. This role focuses on development dimensional quality by collaborating with manufacturing and engineering to resolve issues and closing the loop by ensuring future products are designed and built to the highest standards of Dimensional quality

You Will:

  • Lead cross-functional strategy and initiatives for dimensional quality control and improvement of EV body structures and finished vehicles
  • Oversee Plant Quality dimensional control technician team
  • Oversee Plant Quality dimensional control operations (e.g., control plan execution) and procedures; lead development and rollout of training when required
  • Conduct on-site (Factory and Service Centers) inspections and assessments of EV body structures to identify and diagnose dimensional deviations

  • Lead root cause analysis for dimensional discrepancies found in development, field, and manufacturing, working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions
  • Use data-driven methodologies such as Six Sigma, 8D, and SPC (Statistical Process Control) to identify trends, prioritize issues, and ensure effective resolutions
  • Collaborate with design engineering, craftsmanship, vehicle integration on dimensional control plan development for new model programs
  • Coordinate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure that lessons learned from field issues are incorporated into future designs and production processes
  • Implement best practices for dimensional measurement and quality control, leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to design and engineering teams to prevent future issues and enhance product quality
  • Ambassador for Manufacturing during the development process for Dimensional Excellence
  • Work with Vehicle Architecture team to ensure Dimensional strategies throughout the vehicle are being developed at the highest Quality standards.
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to ensure that dimensional accuracy requirements during development are understood and met
  • Lead cross-functional reviews during development and field issues, driving accountability and ensuring that actions are implemented effectively
  • Maintain accurate records of field issues, dimensional inspections, and quality metrics
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with company standards and regulatory requirements

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field required
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive body structure engineering, with a focus on dimensional accuracy, field support, and quality planning
  • Strong proficiency in dimensional analysis tools and software (e.g., CMM, laser scanners, GD&T, CAD software)
  • Extensive experience with APQP processes, including FMEA, control plans, and PPAP
  • Proven experience in field issue resolution, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality/process improvement methodologies
  • Experience in the EV sector or with advanced automotive technologies as design and release engineer
  • Design and Release Experience on Body Structures and Closures is a plus
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for EV body structures
