Position Overview:
The Valuation Analyst supports the critical pricing and security valuation processes by providing independent oversight of valuations used in our various funds and investment vehicles.
The Portfolio Accounting, Performance, and Valuation team supports and creates complex valuation methods for financial instruments and provides timely, insightful, fundamental and quantitative insights. It is responsible for reviewing, calculating, and analyzing performance and attribution results. The team provides valuation oversight to Aegon Asset Management globally through detailed review of security valuations and application of market standard valuation methodologies.
The team supports the investment process by providing timely, insightful, fundamental, and quantitative feedback. The Portfolio Accounting, Performance, and Valuation team provides extensive analytic support to stakeholders and quantitative analysis to support the investment management process and commercial efforts. The team covers a wide array of public and private investment vehicles and diverse strategies while adhering to GIPS standards and principals.
Responsibilities:
- Applies advanced understanding of valuation methods for financial instruments
- Review valuations and valuation model outputs against thresholds and take necessary actions to accept or resolve exceptions
- Participates in valuation model development and testing. Prepares required model documentation in compliance with policies and standards.
- Collaborates with team members and related teams in assuring appropriate valuations for covered investments.
- May create and/or update desktop procedures for assigned tasks and update key control documents for process changes
- Identifies errors or concerns with team processes and for upstream/downstream processes
- May address intermediate to complex queries from internal parties and/or auditors.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree equivalent education and experience
- CFA, FRM, MBA or similar; or ability/intention to acquire
- ~3 years of experience or more
- A strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills
- Security valuation experience in institutional investment industry
- Good sense of humor
