Job Summary
We are looking for a Lead UX Designer to co-lead and set the design direction for our flagship Practice Management System, Dentrix Ascend. You are a seasoned product designer with a strong track record of shaping complex B2B platforms, driving clarity in ambiguous problem spaces, and delivering cohesive, high-impact user experiences at scale.

You bring deep empathy for customers, strong systems thinking, and the ability to translate complex workflows and technical constraints into intuitive, elegant solutions. While you are still energized by hands-on design work, you also operate comfortably at a strategic level—guiding design decisions, influencing product direction, and mentoring designers across teams.

This is a highly collaborative leadership role that partners closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will help define what “great” looks like for UX on Dentrix Ascend, champion user-centered design throughout the organization, and elevate the overall maturity of our design practice.

All submissions should include a link to your portfolio as part of consideration for this role.
What You Will Do
  • Provide design leadership and co-ownership of UX strategy and execution for a large-scale, complex B2B SaaS platform
  • Champion user-centered design by deeply understanding customer needs, workflows, pain points, and behaviors through qualitative research, interviews, and usability testing
  • Lead the end-to-end design process, from problem framing and concept exploration through prototyping, high-fidelity UI, and detailed design specifications
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads to shape product strategy, prioritize opportunities, and deliver solutions that balance user value, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Drive alignment across teams by clearly communicating design rationale, tradeoffs, and vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identify research needs within the product roadmap and ensure insights are synthesized into actionable design direction
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops, critiques, and retrospectives to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to and evolve design systems, interaction patterns, and standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality across the product
  • Mentor and coach designers on the team and cross-functional teams, providing feedback, guidance, and support to help them grow in craft, confidence, and impact

Travel/Physical Demands
  • Travel typically less than 10%
  • Office environment with no special physical demands required

Qualifications
What You Will Have
  • 8-10 years of experience designing and delivering high-quality B2B or enterprise software products, with increasing levels of ownership and influence
  • Demonstrated expertise across the full design lifecycle, from discovery and research through ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration
  • A proven ability to design and scale end-to-end user experiences within complex systems and workflows
  • Excellent product thinking skills, with the ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical realities
  • A customer-first mindset and a passion for engaging directly with users to validate assumptions and drive meaningful outcomes
  • Experience operating as a design leader—setting direction, influencing stakeholders, and raising the bar for design quality
  • A collaborative approach and extensive experience working closely with Product Management and Engineering partners
  • Solid understanding of web and native application design, with working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Figma and FigJam
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems, style guides, and reusable component libraries

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or Human Factors
  • Experience in the medical or dental industry, bringing valuable industry insights to the table
