The Lead UI Engineer is a senior-level position responsible for driving the architectural vision, technical design, and hands-on development of complex user interface applications. This role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, performant, and secure frontend solutions in alignment with the firm's technology strategy. The overall objective is to lead impactful UI initiatives that enhance user experience and business capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Strategy: Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge UI applications, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, best practices, and the firm's technology roadmap.
- Architectural Oversight & Review: Provide expert development oversight, including conducting rigorous architecture reviews, interface design assessments, and code quality checks for UI components and features.
- Security & Performance: Integrate robust security measures into UI design and development processes. Drive performance optimization initiatives for frontend applications, ensuring responsiveness and scalability.
- Complex Problem Solving: Leverage in-depth expertise in UI development to analyze and resolve complex technical challenges, evaluating solutions against business requirements, system processes, and industry best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional technology teams to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver innovative UI solutions.
- Mentorship & Development: Serve as a primary technical advisor and coach to less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Process & Standards Definition: Define, implement, and enforce UI development standards, coding guidelines, and essential procedures to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks within UI development lifecycles, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, while safeguarding the firm's assets and reputation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in UI development, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a lead or senior technical capacity, demonstrating leadership in architecting and delivering complex frontend systems.
- UI Framework Mastery: Advanced proficiency and hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js), coupled with advanced JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Data Visualization Expertise: Proven experience in designing and implementing high-performance, data-intensive frontend applications, utilizing sophisticated data visualization and charting libraries.
- Backend Integration: Strong understanding of backend integration patterns, including consuming RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and understanding data structures from various sources (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases) relevant to frontend data consumption.
- Operating Environments: Experience working effectively within Linux environments and familiarity with cloud-native development principles.
- Development Methodologies: In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket/Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and successfully deliver multiple complex projects concurrently, overseeing technical direction and team execution.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to mentor, influence, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
