This position is responsible for tax strategy, planning and execution of Takeda's various intercompany reorganizations (such as merger, liquidation, in-kind contributions, including cross-border transactions) , divestments, M&A transactions and license-in/out deals from various Japanese tax perspective such as Japanese CFC, SoftBank tax regime, tax treaty and BEPS Pillar 2, with close communication with outside tax professionals and related divisions such as global tax team around the world and accounting team.
Job Description
- Reports to Japan Tax Head (location: Tokyo, Japan) with dotted report to Tax Strategy & Planning Head (location: London, UK)
- Manage Japanese CFC planning, provision, compliance and tax audit with USSOX documentation
- Review various deals (domestic and cross-border intercompany reorganization, asset divestments, license-in/out deals) and provide comments or alternative ideas from various Japanese tax perspective
- Summarize complicated tax structuring and share the technical conclusions with Japan Tax team in a timely manner
- Manage outside tax professional firms
- Provide various tax advice as business partner to various in-house stakeholders (e.g., providing instructions for tax treaty application)
- Maintain JGAAP temporary difference scheduling with regard to the shares Takeda owns
- Support various ad-hoc projects
Qualifications
- Strong sense of collaboration and inclusion
- Project management skills and ability to drive changes
- High attention to detail, accuracy and analytical skills required
- Ability to convey complex issues to all levels of non-tax colleagues and make practical recommendations
- Ability to deliver under pressure and tight deadlines
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting/Finance/Tax or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 - 7 years with a Big 4 tax professional firm (assistant manager or above in M&A Tax or Transaction Tax Advisory)
- Fluent (both verbally and in writing) in Japanese and English is a plus
- Zeirishi (tax accountant) qualification or CPA certificate or equivalent is a plus
