The Impact you will have in this role:
The Systems Engineering family is responsible for the entire technical effort to evolve and verify solutions that satisfy client needs. The primary focus is centered on reducing risk and improving the efficiency, performance, stability, security, and quality of all systems and platforms.
The Systems Engineering role specializes in the analysis, evaluation, design, testing, implementation, support, and debugging of all middleware, mainframe, and distributed platforms, tools, and systems of the firm.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the API Platform Team with setup, deployment, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting across the Apigee Private Cloud platform and supporting API infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance on API architecture, gateway best practices, and platform usage patterns.
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering, infrastructure, operations, and security teams to resolve platform issues and support API onboarding.
- Interpret and prioritize ongoing engineering requests from development teams and translate them into actionable platform tasks or enhancements.
- Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, stability, and security of the Apigee platform through proactive monitoring and operational best practices.
- Contribute to architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, platform documentation, and knowledge‑sharing materials.
- Support lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, component refreshes, and configuration governance.
- Execute and deliver multiple concurrent initiatives in an Agile delivery framework while maintaining high quality and reliability standards.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, validation, and documentation for Apigee and related components.
- Follow ITIL-aligned change, incident, and problem management processes to ensure operational consistency.
- Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a results‑driven mindset in supporting and advancing the platform.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in API platforms, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineering
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Talents Needed for Success:
- Experience in API Gateway & Platform Expertise: Apigee Edge/Apigee Hybrid/Apigee Private Cloud, API security (OAuth, mTLS), routing, and API lifecycle management.
- Experience in Version Control & CI/CD: Git, Bitbucket; Jenkins or similar CI/CD automation tools.
- Experience in Infrastructure & IaC: Linux (RHEL), Chef, Terraform, Ansible, Shell/Python scripting.
- Experience in Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
- Experience in Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure for API hosting, networking, and platform integration.
- Experience in Observability & Operations: Monitoring/logging tools, performance tuning, debugging distributed systems, and participating in DR exercises.
- Experience in Networking & Middleware: Understanding of proxies, load balancers, TLS/mTLS, and enterprise middleware patterns.
