The Performance & Operability (P&O) Methods group within the Systems Engineering organization is seeking a Lead Engineer who will lead key Performance and Operability Design Systems (PODS) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Digital Transformation software efforts. As a Lead Systems Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and software solutions within the System Engineering department. You will work within cross-functional global teams on cutting-edge projects that transform the way businesses operate. Your expertise in systems engineering, project management, software, and technical leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology and industry solutions.
This position requires the individual to be an expert in software design and well versed in Performance and Operability Methods tools, processes, and methods. The engineer will lead large teams on multiple software projects which will require them to be the primary point of contact for a wide range of support needs. The Lead Engineer will champion technical innovation and process improvements. The individual will mentor and develop less-experienced engineers. The Engineer will be responsible for leading major modernization efforts while adhering to the latest software and modeling standards.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Serve as primary technical software lead for PODS and MBSE programs for the entire P&O Department
- Lead new digital transformation initiatives (MBSE) in P&O and drive collaboration with CDA
- Ownership to system/software architecture and long-term technical direction
- Defining and enforcing software design patterns, coding standards, and best practices
- Driving scalability, reliability, security considerations in the architecture
- Create and drive automated testing strategies
- Champion Agile frameworks
- Drive configuration management and version control best practices
- Drive seamless data communication between different software tools amongst the organization
- Drive a global team of engineers from USA, Puerto Rico, and India
- Foster productive mentoring relationships that result in tangible knowledge transfer and technical growth.
- Teach object-oriented programming to methods team
- Communicate effectively to peers, customers, and leadership
- Review and approve technical software requirements for both internal and external audiences

QualificationsDue to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
YOU MUST HAVE- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- 15 years of software development experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Mechanical, Aerospace or similar Engineering disciplines.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Expertise in object-oriented analysis and design
- Expertise in programming languages such as C++, FORTRAN, JAVA, Python, MATLAB, QT
- Expertise with requirement analysis, design & architecture for desktop tools
- Experience with Windows/Linux
- Experience with PODS tools such as EuTools, Data Reduction, Sales Programs, FAST
- Understanding of DLL’s, XML, JSON, libraries, API’s, and other common software configuration files, and libraries
- Has developed and led major software projects and delivered results
- Effective technical leadership of large teams
- Ability to influence and lead the Performance & Operability organization in technical innovation, transformation, and modernization
- Productive mentoring relationships that result in tangible knowledge transfer and technical growth.
- Self-motivated, able to work with little supervision and take the initiative to get things done
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and program needs.
