Lead Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Clinical Care Navigator

This position is a full-time, remote position that reports directly to the Clinical Manager of the SUD Program. As a Lead SUD Clinical Care Navigator, you will take on a leadership role in overseeing the team of SUD Clinical Care Navigators. Your responsibilities will include managing people, ensuring quality assurance, and providing training and guidance to team members. You will also oversee case management, ensuring high standards of care and effective support for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs). This role requires substantial supervisory experience, advanced licensure, and a strong background in mental health and substance abuse.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintains Care Navigation calls and care navigation activities at a reduced caseload. 
  • Supervise and lead a team of Clinical Navigators, including managing workloads, providing performance feedback, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of care and compliance with organizational policies and best practices.
  • Design and deliver training programs for new and existing team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and process improvements within the SUD program, working closely with senior management to align team objectives.
  • Provide expert-level clinical support and guidance, including complex case management, crisis intervention, and high-level problem-solving.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the SUD care team and other departments (e.g., care support, provider operations, benefits/billing), ensuring smooth communication and integrated care.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to documentation standards and compliance regulations, reviewing records and providing feedback as necessary.
  • Analyze performance data and client outcomes to inform decision-making and enhance program effectiveness, preparing reports for senior management as needed.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or issues within the team, providing support and mediation to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Advocate for clients and the SUD care program within the organization, contributing to program development and representing the team’s needs and successes.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of policies and procedures, ensuring they meet current standards and support effective care delivery.
  • Primary point of contact for SUD CN team in absence of CN manager.

What we expect from you: 

  • Mental Health Licensure required: LCSW, LMFT, LPC  with 4+ years of experience in substance use disorder (SUD) clinical care.
  • Expertise in motivational interviewing and triage, along with advanced skills in leadership, quality assurance, and team management.
  • Strong track record of working with diverse populations and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Exceptional ability to oversee and enhance client care delivery and manage complex cases with a high-touch approach.
  • Proficient in various computer platforms and systems, with a capability to train others in tech-related tasks and systems.
  • Actively pursues professional growth and innovation, encouraging and supporting team members in their own development and adapting strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Proven experience in supervising teams, ensuring quality assurance, and providing training and development.

The target base salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
