How you'll make a difference:
- Studio Project Accounting Support:
- Work directly with various stakeholders to record, track and control progress billings, project costs, and budgets on projects with a range of complexity.
- Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing pertaining to a particular project.
- Maintenance of project-related ledger accounts and project register.
- Disseminate month-end project reports to management and relevant business lines.
- Maintain list of month-end deadlines and ensure that profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and accurately.
- Review project forecasts on a regular basis and ensure any outstanding matters are dealt with on a timely basis.
- Prepare month-end posting/ allocations and accruals.
- Control the accounts payable and receivable tasks for the project.
- Identify and assist with the resolution of project-related accounting issues.
- Ensure policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.
- Ad hoc support within the Finance team, specifically around audits and special projects.
- Champion the success and career development of Project Accountants through support with training, development goals, recognition, and regular feedback.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to plan and manage workloads of the Project Accounting team in the Toronto studio.
- Champion the continuous improvement and standardization of practices and reporting with various stakeholders.
Who you are:
- 10+ years’ project accounting experience in a medium to large sized firm, preferably a Partnership structure
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or related field and experience an asset
- Previous experience with progress-billing accounting in a multi-disciplinary Architectural, Engineering, Construction firm desired
- BST accounting system experience preferred, aptitude to learn new systems required
- Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, Tableau or Visualization an asset
- Driven self-starter who leads by example and demonstrates a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective, respectful constructive feedback and to relevant stakeholders.
- Strong adaptability to varying work demands while maintaining high accuracy and quality of work.
