Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who will join the Core Banking Deposits organization leading the Deposit Services applications. We are looking for a passionate technologist, who is expert in system design, data architecture, and has the experience to operate across the enterprise through understanding of available technology and tools. This role will be the design authority for the team who would ensure design and solution meets organization's standards, needs and goals. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment and possess excellent communication skills, sound judgment and reasoning skills. In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in Java/J2EE Web Application Development, Spring (Core, MVC, AOP, Batch, spring boot), Web Services (REST, SOAP, GraphQL etc.), JMS, Messaging, Kafka (streaming technologies), Apigee, Test automation frameworks
  • Experienced in database technologies, relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
  • Deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design, Object-Oriented Design Principles and Patterns, Non-functional requirements
  • Experienced in batch processes, Ab Initio knowledge is plus
  • Experienced in Cloud Technologies (Azure/GCP)
  • Experienced in Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift
  • Experienced in Agile, Kanban, or Lean methodology
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Ability to effectively assess stakeholder, partner, or client needs while consulting, building solutions, and developing processes
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative, and creative in meeting customer and enterprise needs
  • Identify key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively through resolution
  • Work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience through work, training, military experience, or education
  • Java/J2EE web application development experience
  • Experience with Spring, including Core, MVC, AOP, Batch, and Spring Boot

  • Experience with JMS, messaging, and Kafka or other streaming technologies
