U.S. Bank is seeking a Software Engineer who will contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives in our digital transformation journey. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Cloud-Native Application Development to design and build highly scalable, resilient, and customer-facing enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing distributed systems, REST APIs, containerized applications, and cloud-native solutions while adhering to modern engineering and DevOps practices.

Experience: 8-10 Years

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed systems.
  • Build and enhance customer-facing applications with a strong focus on usability, performance, and security.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Design low-latency, high-throughput solutions capable of handling large-scale workloads.
  • Implement event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka and related messaging technologies.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on Azure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, DevOps, and UI teams.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins/CloudBees and GitLab.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Rancher.
  • Configure and manage API gateways and service meshes using Apigee and Istio.
  • Ensure application security through certificate management, TLS/mTLS, authentication, and authorization best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Drive engineering excellence through coding standards, testing, automation, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with: Java (Java 8+), Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, REST API Design & Development, Distributed Systems, Kafka
  • Extensive experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance applications.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, and Clean Architecture principles.
  • Hands-on experience with: Docker, Kubernetes, Git/GitLab, Jenkins/CloudBees
  • Experience working with source control management and DevOps best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with: Apigee, Istio Service Mesh, Rancher
  • Familiarity with React.js and/or Node.js for frontend integration and platform awareness.
  • Exposure to AI/Generative AI technologies and integrations.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Azure Monitor.

Shift Timings - 11 AM - 8 PM.

Location - Chennai.

Experience - 8 - 10 Years

Location expectations 
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
