The Optum Insight Engineering AI team within Optum Insight Engineering is dedicated to transforming healthcare administrative, clinical, and financial processes through intelligent, scalable software solutions. In this role, you will lead software engineering initiatives across the application development lifecycle, driving the design and implementation of enterprise solutions. You will leverage cutting-edge tools and frameworks, evaluate technology trends, and deliver intelligent, high-impact platforms that simplify processes across the health system.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
- Lead end-to-end software engineering initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures
- Evaluate emerging technology trends to inform solution design, architectural direction, and strategic innovation
- Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline engineering workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional product, architecture, and data science teams to integrate intelligent capabilities into healthcare software products
- Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor software engineers to foster engineering excellence

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise application development using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or C#)
- 2+ years of experience serving in a technical leadership or lead engineer capacity guiding architecture and technical delivery
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience integrating generative AI capabilities, Large Language Models (LLMs), or intelligent automation into software products
- Experience building and supporting software solutions within healthcare clinical domain
- Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines, microservices architectures, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-based application architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience developing, integrating, or deploying enterprise AI/ML tools, modern AI frameworks, or automated solutions within production applications

Canada Residents Only: The salary range for Canada residents is $112,700 - $193,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
