Lead Software Engineer, Microsoft Azure Technologies
Location: Position is remote in the United States

BlueVoyant Innovation and Enablement is seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer with deep experience building cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, particularly serverless and event-driven architectures. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys designing and implementing scalable systems, exploring new technologies, and rapidly prototyping solutions in an innovation-focused environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role, and the successful candidate will be expected to design and implement solutions directly in code while contributing to architectural decisions and platform evolution.

The successful candidate will have strong experience building production systems in Azure, a solid foundation in C#/.NET, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new capabilities to life.

About the Team

The Innovation & Enablement team is a forward-thinking R&D organization focused on exploring and developing technologies that advance BlueVoyant’s cybersecurity platform and MDR services.

The team is currently modernizing and restructuring several internal capabilities to build a cloud-native platform that enables rapid innovation and global deployment of services to local regions.

Engineers on this team play a key role in designing and building the foundational services that power these capabilities and support BlueVoyant’s broader cybersecurity ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, particularly serverless and event-driven services.
  • Build and operate scalable services using Azure Functions and related Azure platform services.
  • Design and implement distributed systems and event-driven architectures that integrate with internal and external platforms.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of services that process high-volume data, real-time events, or integrations with external platforms.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to define and deliver new capabilities.
  • Prototype and evaluate new technical approaches while maintaining a focus on building production-grade services that can be scaled and operated in Azure.
  • Ensure the performance, reliability, and security of applications across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across services and integrations.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability within BlueVoyant’s platform.
Many projects begin as prototypes and evolve into production services used by BlueVoyant’s security platform, so engineers are expected to design solutions with scalability, security, and operational reliability in mind.

Required Experience
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications.
  • Strong experience developing cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure, particularly serverless or event-driven architectures using services such as:
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure Service Bus
    • Azure Event Grid
    • Azure Storage
  • Proficiency in C# / .NET for backend service development.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed or event-driven systems.
  • Experience building and operating production systems in Azure, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design and implementation of complex software systems while remaining hands-on in development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific Azure services they have implemented in production, the architecture of systems they built, and how those systems were monitored and operated.

Applicants should also have demonstrable experience building production cloud systems beyond tutorials, coursework, or certification labs.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience building or contributing to multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Experience integrating Azure AI services or other cloud-based AI APIs.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tooling.
  • Experience working in security-focused or regulated environments.
  • Experience rapidly prototyping solutions in R&D or innovation environments.
