Job Responsibilities
- Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Deliver end-to-end solutions in the form of cloud-native, microservices-based applications, including well-designed APIs and orchestration layers that aggregate multiple source systems behind one governed contract and decouple front-end experiences from underlying platforms.
- Build capabilities as agent-consumable, well-governed services (e.g., MCP and REST), with the multi-tenancy, metering, versioning, and resiliency expected of a shared platform.
- Add AI to platform capabilities, integrating model-brokered services such as retrieval, summarization, and next-best-action, with appropriate guardrails.
- Leverage AI and agentic development tools to accelerate design, coding, testing, and delivery, and help the team adopt these practices as part of how we work.
- Use domain modeling techniques to build best-in-class business products, structuring software for clarity, testability, and evolution.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of applications and systems.
- Design and build scalable, secure, and reliable solutions using modern architectural patterns that avoid single points of failure, enable zero-downtime releases, and optimize data performance.
- Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Add to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, including system design, application development, testing, and operational support.
- Proficiency in back-end technologies (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, Node.js) with experience building microservices-based applications; for full-stack roles, proficiency also includes front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular).
- Experience designing API-first services and orchestration or aggregation layers over multiple source systems.
- Experience using AI-assisted and agentic development tools to improve engineering speed and quality, with a willingness to work in an AI-native, agent-augmented team model.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve design and functionality challenges with minimal supervision.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, and web technologies including RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and JSON.
- Hands-on experience designing and building scalable applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficient across the Software Development Life Cycle, with advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience building multi-tenant platforms with metering, versioned contracts, and self-service onboarding.
- Experience with API platform patterns such as GraphQL, event-driven architecture, or streaming (e.g., SSE), and with agent-consumable interfaces such as MCP.
- Familiarity with LLMs, fine-tuning small language models (SLMs) and open-weight models, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation; experience as an AI engineer is a strong plus.
- Strong soft skills, including presentation, negotiation, mentoring, and stakeholder management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience in the banking domain, and AWS certification.
