WHERE YOU FIT IN
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and manage scalable CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure. This is a senior individual contributor role – you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, working as a trusted expert alongside our engineering teams rather than as a people manager. Beyond pipeline ownership, you will act as a force multiplier for a broader engineering organisation, collaborating closely with development, QA, platform, operations, and security teams to build robust, secure, and efficient delivery pipelines and cloud operations. The role demands deep engineering and DevOps expertise, combined with a genuine passion for automation and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Act as a force multiplier for a wider engineering team of ~50 engineers — building internal tooling, shared workflows, and self-service infrastructure to maximise their productivity and autonomy.
Design, implement, review and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, independently driving improvements from end to end.
Design and deliver production-ready CD pipelines, implementing safe deployment strategies.
Contribute to the development of .NET services and internal tooling in C# .NET (and occasionally F#), working as a fully capable member of the engineering team.
Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using Azure Bicep, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of production systems.
Drive automation across build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes.
Define and enforce DevOps standards, governance, and best practices across the engineering organisation.
Monitor and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure; maintain documentation for infrastructure, processes, and configurations.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This is a hybrid role that sits at the intersection of software engineering and DevOps — we care deeply about both. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but we expect genuine strength in many of the areas below and a curiosity to keep growing.
Software Engineering
Strong programming skills, with hands-on experience in C# .NET or equivalent.
6 - 8 years of combined experience in DevOps and software development, with a strong foundation in both disciplines.
Advanced scripting skills — PowerShell in particular, as well as Bash and/or Python.
Proficient with version control — Git or equivalent.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
DevOps & Infrastructure
Extensive practical experience with Azure and Azure DevOps — including Azure Cloud services, architecture, and production-grade environment management.
Strong Kubernetes skills - experience with AKS or deploying, managing, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes clusters.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Azure Pipelines, and GitHub Actions.
Experience with large-scale .NET codebases is a strong plus — our codebase spans ~1 million lines of code across ~300 projects.
Experience building or operating production-grade CD pipelines, with knowledge of safe deployment strategies such as blue/green deployments, phased/canary rollouts, and automated rollback.
Familiarity with security tools and practices in CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Azure B2C/B2B.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-400, AZ-104, AZ-305) are a welcome bonus, but not a requirement.
