Job Summary Scientists around the world use Orion for early-stage drug discovery and design in the pursuit of improving human health. As an Application QA Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring Orion’s cloud-based solutions meet both scientific and technical expectations. Working closely with Scientific Product Manager & Software Developers, you will design and execute domain‑focused test strategies, validate scientific workflows, and assess chemical data formats for accuracy. By bridging scientific requirements with functional testing, you will help deliver reliable, high‑quality features that accelerate drug discovery and improve overall product performance.
Role & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to translate scientific requirements into effective test scenarios.
- Test cloud-based & standalone drug discovery applications for accurate visualization of molecular structures and workflows.
- Validate scientific workflows end‑to‑end, including input preparation, job submission to HPC/cloud, result parsing, and visualization consistency.
- Create and manage representative test data sets (small‑molecule libraries, edge‑case molecules, malformed inputs) and maintain reproducible test fixtures.
- Validate workflows involving chemical data formats such as SDF and SMILES.
- Identify, document, and track defects; maintain QA documentation for continuous improvement.
- Extend QA processes to automated testing using Playwright or similar frameworks, with Python for data validation (good to have).
- Integrate QA into CI/CD pipelines: automate test runs on pull requests, gate merges with regression suites, and report failures. (good to have)
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc/M.Tech in Computational Chemistry, Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 3-5 years of relevant QA and automation experience. OR
- PhD in Chemistry, Cheminformatics, or Computational Sciences (experience preferred but not mandatory). OR
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with 5–6 years of relevant QA and automation experience. OR
- Experience with 3–6 automated testing frameworks (like Playwright) and scripting in Python, combined with a chemistry background.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in scientific workflows.
Interpersonal Skills - Ability to establish close working relationships with peers in development, science, design, and product management, often across time zones.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering, biology/chemistry or similar
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging complex distributed systems
- Expert in Python, pytest, packaging, and Django
- Expert in GoLang, testing, packaging, and client/server
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLite, and relational database optimization
- Experience in Life Sciences, HPC, AWS, Docker
- Experience with unit & end-to-end testing and CI/CD
- Strong background of computer science fundamentals
