PandaDoc is seeking a Lead Software Automation (Solution) Engineer to join our Platform Track

At PandaDoc, our engineering teams are divided into product teams, which focus on delivering new features, and platform teams, which ensure PandaDoc can scale effortlessly and continue to innovate globally.

As a Lead Software Automation Engineer on the Automation Platform team, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing productivity, quality, and innovation by developing internal automated solutions and tools that simplify and improve our delivery process. Your contributions will enable our product teams to move faster and more efficiently.

In this role, you will:

  • Optimize development by reducing manual intervention and ensuring consistent delivery with improved tools and approaches
  • Partner with DevEx and development teams to resolve bottlenecks and enhance the developer experience
  • Integrate automated solutins into our software and infrastructure to continuously improve stability, quality, and efficiency
  • Develop and refine tools and techniques across the organization, including:
    Automated test workflows (unit, integration, E2E)
    Cycle time improvements (CI/CD pipelines, automated code verifications, deployment scripts, etc.)
  • Build and execute a technical roadmap for a small team of engineers focused on automating processes, reducing cycle times, and improving product quality
  • Guide engineering teams in adopting best practices and advocate for clean code and high technical standards

Our stack:

  • Service-oriented architecture, including legacy code and monolithic services based on the Django framework
  • Two main stacks: Python (AsyncIO frameworks, Django-based services) and Java (Spring Boot, Java 11, Gradle)
  • Extensive use of AWS and K8S for provisioning and deploying workloads
  • Main cross-service communication transports: 
  • Grafana stack for monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing
  • Testing frameworks and tools: PyTest, Selenium, Playwright, Appium

About you:

  • 5+ years of development experience with Python/Java
  • 2-3+ years in leadership or senior engineering roles
  • Expertise in developing and integrating automation solutions to improve product quality and development efficiency (e.g., code quality checks, deployments, routine maintenance)
  • Proficiency in DevOps methodologies and tools, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Familiarity with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, NATS, Kafka)
  • Experience with cloud environments and infrastructure as code is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and change management skills
  • Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written
