What you’ll doWe’re looking for a strategic, editorially minded Social Media and Community Lead to define how Brex shows up across platforms — not just to drive engagement, but to build a lasting brand and community. You’ll own our social presence end-to-end, with a strong focus on content development, channel strategy, and community interaction. From launching major products to elevating our founders and customers, you'll shape the way people think about Brex — and the finance space as a whole.
In this role, you’ll not only publish in the moment but create a repeatable, scalable content engine that delivers on our long-term brand goals. You’ll build editorial narratives, design always-on content, and foster relationships with the ecosystem of founders, operators, and finance leaders we serve. Your work will fuel conversation, build credibility, and unlock commercial impact.
You’ll manage a Social Media Associate and partner across brand, comms, content, design, and product marketing. Above all, you’ll bring a sharp editorial lens and deep business understanding — ensuring that every post reflects both our mission and our ambition.
Responsibilities- Develop and own Brex’s social media and content strategy across X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and emerging platforms (Reddit, YouTube and TikTok) — driving reach, engagement, and influence
- Create and maintain a scalable, evergreen content engine that blends product education, thought leadership, customer stories, and culture
- Build and manage a robust content calendar that connects campaign work with platform-native, high-frequency publishing
- Engage with our growing community in real time, especially founders, customers, and influencers — building affinity through authentic interaction
- Write, edit, and oversee high-performing social content, from sharp threads to timely replies, visual storytelling, and brand POV
- Collaborate with PMM, Comms, Brand, and Design to translate complex ideas (data, product, engineering, etc) into compelling narratives
- Partner with Data, PR and Content Design teams to activate in trending tech/AI new topics on social using brex-data powered insights
- Track performance, analyze insights, and optimize content and engagement strategy based on what resonates
- Proactively identify opportunities for storytelling across the business — from customer wins to product breakthroughs to cultural moments to trending tech/AI news
- Lead and develop a Social Media Associate, fostering growth and craft development
- Partner with CX, ops, and comms to navigate sensitive topics and escalate issues appropriately while maintaining brand integrity
- Have 5+ years of experience in social, content, or editorial roles — ideally in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth tech
- Bring strong editorial instincts and content taste, with a portfolio of social or thought leadership work
- Understand how to blend short-term tactics with long-term brand building
- Are fluent in the language and nuance of tech and fintech social (X, LinkedIn) — you know who’s who and what’s working
- Know how to write sharp, tailored content across formats — from polished posts to reactive replies
- Are a natural community builder — engaging, responding, and creating space for conversation
- Have experience translating company goals into content strategy that supports business outcomes
- Are data-informed but taste-driven — you love dashboards, but lead with instinct
- Can operate at all levels — from building content systems to engaging 1:1 with execs or replying in the moment
- Thrive in a high-output, high-trust team where strategy and execution go hand in hand
- Have built a brand’s social presence from early stage to scale
- Have experience and/or understanding of founder/fintech/AI social conversations and thought leaders (primarily on X)
- Have experience creating content around news or trending topics in the founder/tech/AI space
- Have developed or ghostwritten content for a founder or exec
- Have worked on community-led campaigns or social-first product launches
The expected salary range for this role is $173,568-$216,960. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
