Title and Summary
Lead Site Reliability Engineer
Mastercard's enterprise storage team is looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to help advance our SRE capabilities across our storage platforms with a focus on the Software Defined Storage technology Ceph.
This individual will work closely with technology support teams and application teams to build monitoring and automation solutions to improve the application and infrastructure availability.
Role• Manages and maintains Mastercard's platforms by leading day-to-day building, automating, maintaining, and monitoring of system and platform technologies• Represent enterprise storage team in project meetings and provide advice, status, training and technical support• Work with our customers to understand the monitoring and automation requirements and implement solution using available tool sets and scripting languages• Participates in the planning and implementation of system/platform updates to optimize performance, efficiency, and capacity• Supports process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment• Performs security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions• Mentors junior staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the team • Administer, support and maintain enterprise Monitoring tools in a multi-tier storage environment• Build Automation solutions using available tool sets and scripting languages (Ansible, Bitbucket, CHEF, Jenkins)• Maintain design and support documents for all built solutions and processes• Troubleshoots networking, Unix/Linux systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems utilizing associated Linux and UNIX command line and management tools• As new technologies emerge and impact our environment, learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies• Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.• Self-Driven and flexible willing to learn in adjacent areas with the initiative to learn more.• Thorough, adhering to critical processes even under stress• Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility• Accurately document duties and procedures to aid the department in cross-training and absentee coverage• Work with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes• Ability to solve problems quickly and completely• Ability to identify tasks that should be automated and then develop and implement automation
About You• Experience building collaborative working relationships with stakeholders across development verticals to support technology projects and initiatives.• Experience leading efforts to optimize design, technology, regulatory and/or process standards by leveraging innovative tools and staying current with industry trends.• Experience developing and delivering training for fellow employees/technical talent and coaching or mentoring others on technical topics.• Experience setting priorities, defining objectives, and driving deliverables within teams aligned to strategic objectives in a global technology domain.• Experience leading a major workstream or multiple smaller workstreams for large technology initiatives, providing technical guidance and advice to project team members.• Experience teaming with other technical experts to anticipate and resolve issues and implement impactful solutions.• Act as a subject matter expert and active participant in global technical communities (e.g., Tech Leadership Network, Architect Guild).• Experience engaging in vendor selection and managing vendor relationships, with an understanding of technology roadmaps and their impact on service scope.• Experience managing process adoption and communication for ITSM, incidents, and changes, including the management of risks, issues, and dependencies.• Advanced user-level expertise in UNIX and/or Red Hat Linux and CEPH storage.• Networking experience from basic to advanced, including security knowledge.• Proficiency with scripting or programming languages such as Python or Bash.• Experience with enterprise systems management/monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.• Experience using high-availability tooling such as HAProxy and Pacemaker.• Ability to provide 3rd-line out-of-hours operational support.• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously, often under pressure and learn new technologies quickly with minimal supervision.• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.• Flexible with working alternative schedules, as this role supports global operations across multiple time zones.• Comfortable working in the office three times per week.• Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
