Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead Quest Designer to join the development of a new IP.

Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining!

As a key leader within the Content department, you will manage and guide Quest Designers, driving the successful delivery of fun and memorable quest experiences.   You will be responsible for aligning execution with project goals, quality standards, and production timelines while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.

As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

If you’re a passionate design leader and a positive, respectful collaborator who enjoys cross-department communication and creative problem-solving as a part of your workflow, we’d love to talk to you.

You’ll help us by…

  • Supporting a new intellectual property’s foundational lore

  • Leading and managing the Quest Design team to meet project objectives, quality standards, and production milestones.

  • Setting clear goals and performance expectations aligned with the broader project vision.

  • Collaborating with the quest, narrative, level design teams and other departments in crafting a cohesive experience for the game’s locations, characters, content, and plots.

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for Quest Design within the project, communicating status, risks, and needs to senior leadership.

  • Collaborating with our Quest and Narrative Designers and Engineers to further develop the pipelines and processes of the Quest Design team.

  • Designing and implementing functional quests and becoming proficient in using our tools

  • Help express the story vision via excellent exploration, dialogue, gameplay, and activities.

  • Providing constructive feedback on others’ work

  • Acting as a liaison to other departments, conveying the consistent design vision of the project

  • Providing regular feedback, coaching, and performance management for quest designers.

You’re awesome because you have…

  • Proven experience as a professional Game Designer, with significant quest design experience and at least one shipped title in a senior or lead capacity.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, set priorities, and deliver against defined production timelines.

  • Experience with technical game design (implementation in tools, game logic, visual scripting, etc.)

  • Ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team and comfortable with self-critique and accepting outside feedback

  • Creativity in problem solving with a mindful approach to putting the team first

  • Experience pitching game design concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills

  • Strong organizational skills and a proven track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to provide clear, actionable feedback and support team growth and development.

  • Habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games and a voracious appetite for consuming genre films, television, games, or books

Bonus points for…

  • Experience leading content design teams on AAA Open World titles

  • Major recognition in your field of work

  • Having made your own game as a side or indie project

  • Experience in adjacent fields such as content design, narrative design, environment art, programming, etc.

  • Experience playing and/or crafting pen and paper, board, or trading card games
