Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Lead Quality Engineer role to join our growing and dynamic Bus Division team where you will be an integral part of the organization.


What You’ll do

The Lead Quality Engineer will provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure the highest standards of quality in the production of mass transit parts. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with customer requirements, and foster collaboration across internal teams and suppliers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Customer Engagement & Issue Resolution
    Lead customer meetings to address quality concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues.
    Manage customer audits, prepare responses to findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

  • Quality Metrics & Performance Monitoring
    Develop, prepare, and monitor quality performance metrics.
    Create action plans to address areas of low performance and drive improvement initiatives.

  • Process Development & Documentation
    Modify existing quality processes and procedures; develop new ones to meet evolving requirements.
    Prepare and implement Quality Inspection Instructions for various product types.

  • Auditing & Compliance
    Conduct internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
    Support Supplier Quality in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers and improving existing supplier performance.

  • Corrective Actions & Problem Solving
    Lead investigations of customer non-conformance reports using 8D methodology.
    Coordinate failure analysis with Engineering and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams and suppliers.

  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare and monitor monthly reports for quality performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices.

  • Mechanical — Understanding machines, tools, and maintenance.

Abilities

  • Written & Oral Comprehension — Communicate effectively in writing and speech.

  • Problem Sensitivity — Recognize potential issues before they escalate.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; advanced degree a plus. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in Quality Engineering or related field, with experience in AS9100 or ISO22163 environments required. Manufacturing and mass transit or automotive sector experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CAD, SmarTeam, Smartsheet, Syteline, and Fracas preferred.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma and Internal Auditor certifications preferred.
  • Other:
    • Strong knowledge of quality systems and structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, etc.).
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documents.
    • Leadership experience in lean management systems preferred.
    • Excellent communication and cross-functional team leadership skills.
