Job Description:

Lead Quality Engineer works within an agile/scrum Product Engineering team to play a leadership role in a team’s delivery of engineering needs.  This leader represents the team and technical interests in meetings for several purposes.  This is a servant leader role producing and executing with the team and product quality practice in a hands-on craft.  There is a focus on helping teach and mentor people in the team.  The role serves as a source of craft direction on a team level in addition to their own delivery.  
Responsibilities: 

  • Implements and records quality metrics.    

  • Conducts tests and inspections to identify production, process, or product issues, and presents solutions.  

  • Ensures and participates in a collaborative team test case, code, or development review. 

  • Ensures the team is executing the prepared test cases and the results are documented appropriately. 

  • Fosters a collaborative relationship with developers to maximize the value of testing.

  • Learning to teach and mentor team members in depth of craft. 

  • Reviews technical work and helps others improve approach, communication, and delivery.

  • Applies technical skills and understanding required to complete often technically difficult tasks to the definition of done.

  • Leads the team when new skills or approaches may be required for delivery.  

  • Conducts Proof-Of-Concepts for new solutions and/or technologies when asked and communicates with team.

  • Identifies and ensures implementation of work process improvement concepts.

  • Assists in developing and maintaining the quality strategy for product team.

  • Initiates and drives new ideas and technologies on the product team and/or quality practice. 

  • Contributes to product quality practice strategic goals and best practices. 

  • Promotes ongoing learning by contributing to learning activities such as learning series, knowledge articles, presentation, or other forms of learning.

  • Test Automation - Independently creates automated tests, advising the rest of the team on the quality of tests.

  • Product Knowledge - Has in depth knowledge of the product. Tailors solutions to customer needs based on deep product understanding.

  • Software Architecture - Consistently designs code that is aligned with the overall architecture. Plans accordingly for changes and impacts of change.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Graduation or Post Graduation degree in Computer Science or engineering fields, or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of software testing experience.

  • 6+ years of experience in test automation of test cases and suites.  

  • Experience programming in C/C++, Java, or another language.  

  • Experience testing web service and technologies (e.g., REST and JSON, XML, HTTP, Web Server, etc.).  

  • Solid understanding of object-orient programming (OOP) and Design Patterns. 

  • Solid understanding of techniques and approaches for testing test software components/objects.   

  • Good working experience in multiple Automation Tools.  

  • Experience writing SQL queries and querying relational databases.

  • 4+ years of experience with agile environments. 

  • Experience leveraging Azure DevOps (ADO) or Jira for work item management and CI/CD automation, as well as Git for version control.

  • At least one technology certification.
