Job Overview:
The Lead Project Controls Cost Analyst will be responsible for providing expert cost analysis, forecasting, and reporting for complex energy projects, ensuring financial control and supporting project success for Primoris Energy Services.
Job Responsibilities:**
* Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive cost control systems and procedures for large-scale energy projects.
* Prepare detailed project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts, including identifying potential variances and recommending mitigation strategies.
* Conduct thorough cost variance analysis, identifying root causes and developing corrective action plans.
* Generate accurate and timely cost reports, progress reports, and financial summaries for project management, clients, and executive leadership.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and accounting teams to ensure alignment on cost objectives and reporting.
* Lead and mentor junior cost analysts, providing guidance and support in cost control methodologies.
* Develop and maintain project WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and CBS (Cost Breakdown Structure).
* Review and validate invoices, change orders, and subcontracts for cost accuracy and adherence to project budgets.
* Utilize project controls software (e.g., Primavera P6, EcoSys, SAP) to manage and analyze project cost data.
* Participate in project reviews and risk assessment meetings, providing financial insights and recommendations.
Job Qualifications:**
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project controls, with a strong focus on cost analysis and forecasting, preferably within the energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction sectors.
* Proven experience leading cost control efforts on complex, multi-million dollar projects.
* Expert proficiency in project controls software such as Primavera P6, EcoSys, or similar enterprise project management systems.
* Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data visualization.
* Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost accounting principles.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* PMP or AACE certification (e.g., CCP, EVP) is highly desirable.
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
