Job Summary:
The Lead Product Designer supports Disney and Pixar accessory categories for toddlers through adults, including headwear, hosiery, cold-weather accessories, and other miscellaneous categories. Under general management supervision, this role leads product design from concept through approval, translating consumer insights and market trends into high-quality, consumer-focused product lines across channels of distribution. The role builds strong cross-functional partnerships to strengthen brand equity and support financial goals.
This role will sit onsite in Glendale, CA and report directly to the Sr. Manager, Product Design.
Responsibilities:
- Lead product design from concept through final approval, including trend research, silhouette sketching, mood boards, art-to-product development, 2D/3D mock-ups, prototypes, sample creation, and fit sessions, as applicable.
- Develop consumer-centric, trend-right product lines that deliver strong fashion, function, storytelling, quality, and price-value across tiers of the value pyramid.
- Manage product and packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative review meetings, maintaining character integrity, color, materials, form, function, and profitability standards within established turnaround times.
- Create line sheets, creative presentations, retail pitch decks, and product mock-ups; present concepts and recommendations to internal and external partners across multiple platforms.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, content providers, licensees, and retail partners to develop and approve products while addressing creative, technical, legal, cultural, sourcing, and business requirements.
- Monitor competitors, product innovation, consumer behavior, seasonal trends, and the retail landscape to identify category opportunities and inform design direction.
- Prioritize and manage multiple design projects and requests to meet deadlines and defined expectations.
- Organize contractual samples for archival and maintain accurate product records.
- Support setup and teardown for the quarterly Product Design Lab showroom and represent the team in relevant meetings.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of related product design experience.
- Working knowledge of hardlines and softlines product development, including raw materials, plastics, textiles, print and pattern, graphic composition, and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated negotiation, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; Keynote experience preferred.
- Product design capabilities including 3D design, technical design, sketching, art application and manipulation, final mechanical art, and fabric and trim identification.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $117,200.00-$157,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
