About the RoleThe Lead Procurement Specialist role acts as the Subject Matter Expert driving all procurement activities for outsourced formulations manufacturing, with a critical focus on Tier 1 suppliers. This position is pivotal to the formulation supply chain, responsible for supporting the development and execution of sourcing strategies, onboarding high-quality manufacturing partners, and managing ongoing supplier relationships.
The role will lead the operational procurement engagement for Tier 1 outsourcing partners, issuing POs and Statements of Work (SOWs), ensuring operational excellence from sourcing council preparation through to final production and ongoing replenishment, and spearheading cost and process improvement initiatives across the Dyson formulations portfolio.
Main responsibilities include but not limited to:-
Develop and implement outsourced manufacturing strategies for formulations at tier 1 manufacturing partners, aligned with Dyson’s quality, commercial, and innovation goals
Manage supplier onboarding and selection, conducting RFPs and ensuring compliance with pricing, technical, regulatory, and business requirements
Own operational delivery involving OTIF (On Time in Full) for outsourced formulations manufacturing activities, including SOW management and sampling/industrial trial coordination
Handle PO workflows and critical spend in support of outsourced manufacturing initiatives
Drive supplier relationship management with tier 1 suppliers, including leading regular operational meetings, performance tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure clear and timely communication on project timelines, supply risks, and critical milestones from supplier engagement through manufacturing delivery
Lead cost reduction and value improvement projects, focusing on supplier performance, spend analysis, and contractual optimisation
Support and lead tender management for new formulations manufacturing needs or changes to existing supplier setups
Continuously monitor and improve supplier management processes (SRM), driving operational excellence and risk management across outsourced manufacturing
Track and resolve supplier onboarding and engagement progress within procurement systems (e.g., Ariba), partnering closely with internal functions and cross-functional teams
You're a proactive leader with a deep passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence, committed to building and nurturing a collaborative team culture. You are commercially astute, possessing robust experience in driving tangible value through robust negotiation, value engineering, and strategic supplier performance management. As an effective communicator and relationship builder, you excel at influencing supplier strategies and collaborating effectively with a diverse range of key internal and external stakeholders to achieve outstanding commercial results.
Previous skills & experience:-
Demonstrated procurement expertise in FMCG, formulation, contract manufacturing, or technology-driven production environments, preferably with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or similar manufacturing processes
In-depth knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, statements of work and Capex processes relevant to outsourced manufacturing and supply chain operations
Strong operational and project management skills, with a proven track record in leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering against OTIF and cost targets in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in procurement and supplier management platforms (e.g., Ariba), with the ability to interpret system data for actionable insights
