In addition, the Lead Power Electronics Engineer impacts the quality of their own work as well as the work of others on the team. Roles and Responsibilities
Electrical System Simulation & System DesignSimulate and design complete power electronic systems for industrial applications, including marine propulsion, oil and gas facilities, metals rolling mills, and power generation plants.
Develop offline and real‑time electrical system simulations to support system design, performance evaluation, and engineering decision‑making.
Analyze system behavior under various operating conditions and propose design optimizations.
Specify electrical components for the overall power plant, including cables, filters, inductors, capacitors, transformers, converters, and protection devices.
Ensure component selection aligns with system requirements, standards, and environmental constraints.
Write detailed project artifacts such as hardware specifications, controller functional requirements, and commissioning instructions.
Prepare test mode procedures and documentation for power electronic controllers and drive systems.
Develop control software for drives and converters, including HMI interfaces.
Validate and test software on laboratory test benches and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) real‑time platforms.
Troubleshoot and refine control algorithms to ensure robust performance in industrial environments.
Design new Voltage Source Inverters (IGBT or SiC‑based) and new thyristor‑based converters such as LCI rectifiers.
Perform modeling, simulation, and validation of converter topologies and switching strategies.
Develop technical engineering tools to support project teams in design, analysis, and commissioning.
Provide technical support during system integration, testing, and commissioning phases.
Support drive system testing and validation activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and operational requirements.
Participate in on‑site or remote commissioning of drive systems, assisting with tuning, troubleshooting, and performance verification.
Required Qualifications
PhD with a minimum of 1 year of experience in power electronics or Masters degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in power electronics or Bachelors degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in power electronics
Understands physical phenomena; strong theoretical and mathematical background; with the ability to understand new concepts and ability to communicate information clearly
Creative, passionate and integrate into a team
Willingness to travel when needed
Desired Characteristics
Autonomous, curious with the ability to understand new concepts, coach other engineers, and integrate into a team
Experience on MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives and Cycloconverter
Experience on Variable Speed application, STATCOM, or active filtering
Experience in Middle Voltage and High Voltage applications

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
