Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Network Engineer who is deeply passionate about automation and modern deployment practices. This role is critical in driving an automation-first culture across the organization, with a strong focus on network automation within data center environments. The ideal candidate will contribute to building scalable, programmable infrastructure that supports rapid deployment, configuration consistency, and operational efficiency. A key part of the role involves implementing Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and other automation frameworks to streamline data center buildouts and lifecycle management. By leveraging automation, the engineer will help accelerate project timelines, reduce manual intervention, and minimize risk. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to transforming legacy processes into intelligent, automated workflows.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the review, resolution, and implementation of complex technical issues related to large-scale network infrastructure, automation platforms, and data systems.
- Design and implement scalable network automation solutions using tools like Nautobot, Ansible, and Python, ensuring alignment with business and operational goals.
- Develop and integrate APIs to automate network provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting across multi-vendor environments.
- Create and utilize diagnostic, simulation, and orchestration tools to maintain, troubleshoot, and restore service or data to network systems.
- Evaluate and optimize automation workflows, including parsing queries, extracting data, and performing limited programming to fine-tune supported systems.
- Research performance trends and recommend process improvements to enhance automation efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Perform complex migrations, upgrades, installations, and configurations of network automation platforms and supporting infrastructure.
- Make strategic decisions in security and compliance to design and implement robust, secure, and auditable network automation solutions.
- Assess changes for risk to production systems, ensuring quality, security, and compliance requirements are met across supported areas.
- Identify gaps in current network and automation processes, recommending changes to support Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational excellence.
- Collaborate and consult with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, software developers, and managers, to resolve issues and achieve automation goals.
- 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology/Al/Data Science
- Develop Automation scripts using Python, Ansible. YAML
- Leverage Python REST APIs to develop Zero Touch provisioning
- Have used Ansible Tower, GitHub, Gi Actions, CI/CD-tools
- Exposure to Data Center/Service provider networking Expertise in Network Protocols- OSPF BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, EVPN, VxLAN Knowledge on Cloud Networking would be a plus.
- Have worked in /Agile methodologies and tools Serum and JIRA
- Communicate and help grow an automation community across the organization.
- Mentor and upskill our juniors and interns. provide opportunities for growth
- Good Social, Oral and Written communications skills are preferred
