We are looking for an experienced Lead Narrative Designer to bring their expert writing and game design skills to our hit mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with top industry talent and take ownership in the narrative process from initial concept to final product. Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a Harry Potter Narrative Design/Writing assessment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads a game’s narrative vision and adapts it to align with data, executive and partner feedback, and the game team’s changing needs
  • Manages, trains, and mentors a team of narrative designers, leading the design process and setting the quality bar for execution
  • Drives creative quality forward by example, and giving feedback and direction where needed
  • Leads the tactical (day-to-day) narrative operations, establishing best practices and aligning processes with the game’s production pipelines
  • Owns the relationship with external partners to determine upcoming narrative content, obtain approvals, and communicate the partners’ narrative and overall creative feedback to the team
  • Serves as a key stakeholder in creative meetings and in the development of the game’s initiatives and new features
  • Collaborates directly with Product, Design, Production, Art, and Animation Leads to coordinate all facets of Narrative with F2P mobile business goals
  • Leads the shaping of high-level overarching stories for upcoming features, events and/or large content releases
  • Produces high-quality quest outlines and copy on deadline as needed
  • Integrates inventive writing with design to support both creative and monetization objectives
  • Leads brainstorming sessions and evaluates pitches based on creative and monetization objectives, keeping within limited art and design scope
  • Innovates with high accuracy across multiple iterations, addressing feedback, incorporating notes, and executing revisions
  • Facilitates the training of new hires and narrative designers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mastery of writing and expert proficiency in narrative design techniques
  • High organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills in a rapidly changing creative environment
  • A team leader as well as a team player in motivation, communication, and attitude
  • Aptitude for managing and mentoring less experienced narrative designers
  • High-level understanding of the game development process and F2P mobile game design pipelines and market trends
  • Expert-level proficiency in reviewing work, giving constructive feedback, and maintaining narrative continuity
  • Ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to efficiently multitask cross-departmentally without compromising creative quality
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and copy editing skills
  • Outstanding written and interpersonal communication
  • Experience scripting dialogue for large casts of original and canon characters
  • Experience structuring and tracking multiple branching storylines
  • Leadership experience in small team settings
