We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking and results-driven Lead Database engineer, who will work on designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that efficiently store and retrieve data. The Lead Database Engineer will collaborate with software and firmware developers and stakeholders to design the database schema and data models. Factors such as data structure, relationships, and indexing to create a robust foundation for the application should be consider. Reporting to Senior Engineering Manager in the PAC core organization, the Lead Database engineer will work in close collaboration with GA product lines, R&D teams, and other GA functions.
This role will also be responsible to ensure data remains secure, organized, and accessible to authorized users while optimizing system performance.Job Description
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Lead Database Engineer will be responsible for:
- Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with firmware developers and configuration tool development team.
- Identify the scope of the work, provide an initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
- Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
- Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding.
- Work closely with your peers and keep engaging in a fast pace technical design and development team.
- Execute in a fast-paced delivery mode and focus on delivering tasks to meet the product release goal.
- Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation
- Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
- Perform day-to-day activities using Git, Confluence, Jira and Jenkins.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years of software development.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with popular database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Able to share ideas and work well in a team environment, proactive approach to tasks displaying initiative.
- Flexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasks, working in multi-tasking environment.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Proficient in Database Design and Architecture.
- Strong Proficient in multiple databases (RDBMS, NOSQL, TSDB, Columnar Database)
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Database.
- Skilled in creating complex queries, forms and outputs using MS Access.
- Ability to write and debug VBA code for automating tasks and building applications.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, and Software Design Patterns.
- Must have proficiency with Python ,C#, LINQ, .NET in a professional setting.
- Hands-on experience with web development using HTML5, Java Script, CSS.
- Experience unit testing with xUnit.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive and open approach to conflict resolution.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, and self-directed.
