About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Merchant Product Sales Consultant responsible for growing revenue by identifying and selling tailored payment solutions to an assigned portfolio of existing merchants. This consultative role requires a deep understanding of merchant services, strong relationship management, and a results-driven mindset to help merchants optimize their payment ecosystems and grow their business. In this role, you will:
- Proactively engage an assigned portfolio of merchants to identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across merchant services (e.g., payment processing, POS systems, e-commerce solutions, security enhancements, and value-added tools).
- Conduct in-depth payment solution reviews and recommend enhancements aligned to each client's evolving business needs.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to merchant clients, leveraging data and industry trends to provide insights and position value-added services.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Account Managers, Treasury Managers, Bankers, and Implementation teams, to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing satisfaction.
- Achieve and exceed sales goals related to portfolio growth, product penetration, and client retention.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, sales activities, and pipeline management in the CRM.
- Represent Wells Fargo at industry events, webinars, and customer forums as needed.
- 5+ years of Business to Business (B2B) Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Excellent communication, consultative selling, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of payment processing, POS systems, and digital payment trends.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to analyze merchant data and present compelling business cases.
- Proven success in a quota-driven environment, preferably working with existing client portfolios.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, or other CRM systems.
- Knowledge of vertical-specific payment needs (B2B, retail, e-commerce, and restaurant).
- Understanding of how these four parties work together: Merchant, Network, Processor, Wells Fargo.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with Treasury and Banking partners to align on client objectives.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership.
- Ability to analyze merchant data and present compelling business cases.
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time
