The Lead Medical Assistant provides both clinical and operational leadership to support efficient clinic operations, exceptional patient care, and provider productivity. This role serves as the primary resource for Medical Assistants and clinic staff, overseeing daily workflows, staffing, patient flow, and administrative functions while maintaining high standards of patient service and clinical quality.
This position will work at: Summit Rheumatology Clinic, 520 N Camino Mercado, Casa Grande, AZ
Hours for this position: Monday - Thursday, 7:00-5:30 (10 hour shift)
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee daily clinic operations by reviewing provider schedules, staffing coverage, patient volumes, and operational priorities to ensure efficient workflow and adequate support for providers and staff
  • Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day clinic operations, addressing patient concerns, staff issues, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner
  • Manage patient flow throughout the clinic, ensuring appointments remain on schedule, phones are answered promptly, and patients receive efficient, high-quality care
  • Assign Medical Assistant responsibilities, provider pairings, and specialty clinic schedules to maximize workflow efficiency and patient access
  • Collect and document patient assessment data including vital signs, height, weight, medication reconciliation, chief complaints, and other relevant information for provider review
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining specimens, assisting with positioning, reviewing medications, and supporting providers during clinical procedures
  • Perform clinical support duties including specimen collection, blood draws, laboratory processing, medication refill requests, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient assistance program documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, including treatments, patient concerns, test results, provider orders, and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate referrals, infusion-related activities, enrollment programs, and other specialty services to ensure continuity of patient care
  • Monitor electronic task queues, provider requests, emails, and other communications to ensure timely completion of patient care and administrative tasks
  • Review clinic performance metrics, operational reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify priorities and support organizational goals
  • Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratory spaces in a clean, organized, and compliant manner
  • Oversee inventory management for clinical, laboratory, and office supplies, including monitoring stock levels, restocking materials, and submitting supply orders as needed
  • Collaborate with providers, leadership, vendors, pharmaceutical representatives, information technology, and other departments to support clinic operations and resolve issues
  • Facilitate daily communication with staff regarding clinic priorities, workflow updates, and operational expectations
  • Ensure completion of end-of-day responsibilities, including encounter reconciliation, documentation review, resolution of outstanding patient issues, schedule readiness, scanning, paperwork completion, and securing the clinic

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
  • 3+ years related experience
  • 1+ years of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current MA Certification
  • BLS/CPR required upon hire

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
