The Role

About the Team:

OpenAI, in close collaboration with our capital partners, is embarking on a journey to build the world’s most advanced AI infrastructure ecosystem. The Physical Infrastructure team is central to this mission, setting the core infra strategy and implementing this vision. From site selection to the buildout process, this team sits at the intersection of commercial, technical, strategy, and operations, interacting with teams and executives inside and outside of OpenAI.

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly experienced individual contributor to lead major project enablement efforts across our live sites and future expansions. This person will initially drive project success directly, while helping to define and grow the team and scope under this function. The Major Projects Enablement Lead is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of these ambitious infrastructure programs, including key projects already in flight.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the primary driver for successful delivery of major infrastructure projects, initially focused on program success with major hyperscaler partners.

  • Ensure project success for live sites, and expand to new locations as Stargate scales.

  • Act as the key point of coordination across construction, industrial equipment, networking, and hardware efforts.

  • Partner closely with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to meet aggressive delivery timelines.

  • Lead cross-functional stakeholder groups across multiple time zones and disciplines.

  • Develop and maintain executive-level communications and reporting on project status, risks, and successes.

  • Help shape the long-term structure and leadership of the Major Projects Enablement function.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • 10+ years managing complex infrastructure projects, with a track record of delivering major builds.

  • 5+ years of experience in the data center industry, with a deep understanding of its ecosystem.

  • Excellent executive communication with internal and external leaders.

  • Significant experience across the data center landscape, including construction, industrial equipment, networking, and hardware.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a builder mindset—comfortable operating in ambiguity and creating structure.

  • Experience leading complex accounts and managing executive-level communications.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.

  • Experience leading cross-functional, distributed teams across time zones.

  • Familiarity and fluency with data center technical concepts.

  • Willingness to travel more than 25% of the time to project sites and partner locations.
