As a Laboratory Lead, you coordinate daily lab activities and provide training, coaching, and guidance to the team. You act as an informational resource for your colleagues, helping ensure that samples are processed and analyzed efficiently.
You will be a lead and a resource to other lab team members, while also working as an individual contributor doing day-to-day laboratory bench work.

In this role:
· You will oversee the work of Medical Lab Technicians and / or Sample Management Technicians (though they will not be your direct reports).
· You will coach and lead the work of others, and help the team reach business goals.
· You will coordinate the team’s workflow.
· You will problem-solve, from trouble-shooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving situational workflow and challenges with turnaround times.
· You will use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
· You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
· You will set up and run lab tests and read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

What you need to succeed:
· High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; a degree in a science-related field is preferred
· Experience using a microscope to review slides and identify the various elements of a sample
· Ideally 3-5+ years experience working in a laboratory, although training can be provided; experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers) preferred
· Attention to detail, organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
· Team-orientation
· Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience preferred
· Ability to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab, i.e. standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)
This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:
· You will be working 40 hours / week. The scheduled shifts will be Mon -Fri 10:00 am -6:30 pm, and Sat/Sun once a month, 9:00 am -530 pm
