About the Job: Infoya is seeking a hands-on Lead Java Developer who is already
operating at a technical lead level and demonstrates the curiosity, judgment,
and enthusiasm to grow into broader architecture ownership. This role will help
shape efficient, scalable solutions by
connecting business needs, application design flows, integration patterns, and
cloud architecture with high-quality engineering execution.
The ideal
candidate combines deep Java and Spring expertise with strong systems-design
capability. You will remain close to the code while guiding solution design,
reviewing technical decisions, mentoring developers, and collaborating with
product, engineering, infrastructure, architecture, and business stakeholders.
Office Location: Toronto
Employment Type: Permanent
Role Type: New position – current requirement
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in office)
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, optimization, and
support of scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices for high-traffic
e-commerce applications.
- Translate business and product requirements into
clear application flows, component designs, integration patterns, and pragmatic
technical solutions.
- Contribute to application, integration, API, and
data architecture standards across the e-commerce portfolio.
- Design secure RESTful APIs, event-driven
services, distributed workflows, and resilient integrations using technologies
such as Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Evaluate and recommend frameworks, databases,
cloud services, and architectural patterns based on scalability, reliability,
maintainability, security, and cost.
- Review solution designs, code, and technical
documentation; identify risks early and support architecture governance and
design-quality practices.
- Partner with product, engineering, QA, DevOps,
infrastructure, architecture, and business teams to drive efficient solutioning
and delivery.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring,
design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive modernization and cloud-migration
initiatives, including the decomposition of legacy or monolithic applications
into cloud-native services.
- Build for security, compliance, observability,
high availability, performance, and production resilience from the outset.
- Investigate complex production issues, conduct
root-cause analysis, and improve platform stability and performance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and architectural
patterns, validating their practical value through prototypes or
proof-of-concept work when appropriate.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,
Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience,

enterprise application development.
- Demonstrated experience operating as a Lead
Developer, Technical Lead, or senior engineer with ownership of design
decisions and technical direction.
- Strong understanding of application
architecture, end-to-end design flows, microservices, distributed systems,
design patterns, and API-led integration.
- Hands-on experience designing and building
secure RESTful APIs and event-driven applications.
- Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform and
cloud-native services; comparable AWS or Azure experience may be considered
where supported by strong GCP capability.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data
modelling, query optimization, indexing, caching, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
pipelines, and production deployment practices.
- Working knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect,
JWT, API security, encryption, and secure coding practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to
explain technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical
stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing or modernizing
high-volume e-commerce, retail, financial-services, or other
transaction-intensive platforms.
- Understanding of e-commerce domains
such as product catalogue, pricing, promotions, inventory, cart, checkout,
order management, payments, fulfilment, and customer identity.
- Experience with reactive
programming, including Spring WebFlux.
- Experience influencing architecture
roadmaps, technical standards, and modernization strategy without losing
hands-on delivery focus.
- Exposure to additional backend
technologies such as Node.js, Python, .NET Core/C#, or Go.
