Position Summary:
The Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our global systems and network infrastructure. This position will provide technical leadership to a team that ensures the availability, reliability, and security of our IT systems across our portfolio of companies spanning the US and UK.
Successful candidates will be skilled at developing right-sized, compliant, and contemporary solutions that meet business requirements through network, server, and endpoint solutions. Incumbents will have demonstrable experience leading collaboration exercises with engineers on IT solutions design and security architecture. Skillful document creation and change management techniques will ensure business value realization from the efforts of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design comprehensive networking solutions for each business unit.
- Configure and install network devices and services, such as switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points.
- Configure and install on-premise server architecture utilizing both VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
- Collaborate with business partners to design compliant solutions against relevant security frameworks, including CIS v8 and CMMC v2.
- Monitor and troubleshoot environment performance and connectivity issues.
- Perform maintenance and system upgrades outside of core business hours.
- Implement and enforce security policies and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers and vendors to resolve site incidents and problems.
- Document platform architecture, configuration, and procedures
- Travel to set up and maintain compute & networking systems.
- Provide on-call support for critical after-hours issues.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent degree / practical working experience.
- 6+ years of overall experience in mid-market Information Technology (IT) programs.
- 4+ years' experience in Network/Systems Engineering or Architecture. Senior/Lead experience a plus.
- Hands-on experience with IT Infrastructure devices and tools from vendors such as Cisco/Meraki, Palo Alto, VMware Fortinet, Auvik, DataDog, Sophos, Microsoft, etc.
- Experience administering Linux servers and containers a plus
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrable skill at communicating complex ideas.
- Exceptional ability to generate documentation for both end-users and IT peers.
- Effective ability to deliver solutions quickly, keeping commitments, meeting dependencies, and aligning to critical priorities.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 50% travel may be required (domestic and international).
- Most travel will be two and three-day visits to sites to install, configure, or troubleshoot.
Position Dimensions:
- Reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure.
- Accountable for delivery standards within the Solution Engineering team.
- Candidates must be eligible for work in the US without sponsorship.
- Position will require working time after hours and on weekends to provide on-call support and maintenance/installation outside of business hours.
Position Location:
- Position will be located at any of our US business offices (Twinsburg OH, Boston MA, Nashua NH, New Haven CT, Denver CO, Phoenix AZ, Valencia CA. Gettysburg PA, Ft Walton, FL)
- Position requires at least three in-office days per week (excepting travel).
