Position Summary

The Lead IT Engineer for End User Computing & Lab IT will server a critical role within our global organization.  This position is based in our San Diego office and reports directly to the Senior IT Manager of End User Computing & Lab IT.

In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of IT functions, including system design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging, and the implementation of repairs, upgrades and modification.  You will also diagnose and resolve technical issues to maintain optimal system performance. Additionally, you will oversee enterprise infrastructure platforms to identify performance concerns and ensure system integrity. Your responsibilities will include leading the planning and execution of business challenges analyses, leveraging automated system solutions to drive operational efficiency.

You will provide advanced engineering support and administration for managed endpoint platforms and services, including Intune, SCCM, and Jamf. This role also includes supporting endpoint provisioning and lifecycle management across manufacturing and lab environments.  The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, developing and maintaining automated deployment pipelines that ensure consistent configuration, security compliance and operational efficiency across diverse enterprise and specialized IT settings.

This position plays a vital role within the Global IT End User Computing team, contributing to the shared responsibility for maintaining system availability and ensuring optimal performance across enterprise environments – including support for manufacturing and Lab IT operations. 

Key Responsibilities

Automation and Scripting

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate endpoint provisioning, system configurations, and routine tasks.
  • Design and build deployment pipelines for efficient and scalable endpoint management.

Endpoint Management and Configuration

  • Configure and manage Intune features such as Configuration Profiles, Compliance Policies, and BitLocker encryption.
  • Deploy and manage applications across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms.
  • Coordinate and execute the installation of client and department specific applications and systems.
  • Create, manage, and maintain software deployment packages and operating systems.

Troubleshooting and Technical Expertise

  • Diagnose and resolve complex end-user endpoint issues within an enterprise environment, especially after initial triage by other teams.
  • Work on complex assignments requiring in-depth evaluation of diverse technical factors and procedures.

Project and Operational Management

  • Manage projects with accountability for timelines, milestones, resources, budgets and documentation.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating agility and adaptability to shifting business and functional demands.
  • Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation to support global operations.

Collaboration, Leadership and Mentorship

  • Partner with IT and business project teams, including GIS End User Services, and Information Security.
  • Improve internal and external working relationships and establish networks with key contacts beyond immediate areas of expertise.

Security and Compliance

  • Collaborate on global security initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of endpoint security across laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

Reporting and Integration

  • Experience in Service Now and its integration points for asset tracking, incident management and workflow automation.
  • Enhance reporting capabilities to support compliance, performance monitoring and operational insights.
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing SCCM and Microsoft Intune for endpoint provisioning, compliance and application deployment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Active Directory and Azure, including OS provisioning, software packaging, image management, GPOs and configuration profiles.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server administration and support.
  • Extensive knowledge of developing and managing desktop operating systems (Windows and macOS).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash for automation and system configuration.
  • Working knowledge of Jamf for Apple device management.
  • Familiarity with AWS Workspaces, Microsoft Azure Services, Virtual Apps and Desktops.
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure and services for cloud native endpoint environments.
  • Articulate and persuasive oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating efficiently across teams.
  • Experience working with Service Now and its integration points for asset tracking and incident management
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with strong focus on customer service.
  • Capable of identifying and executing process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, adapting quickly to changing business and functional demands.
Qualifications
  • Microsoft SCCM and Intune subject matter experts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in these related fields with 10+ years of experience in enterprise environments (Preferred)
  • Strong understanding in automation design, process engineering, or solution architecture.
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g. workflow automation, scripting).
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft, AWS, Jamf, Service Now accreditation, ITIL Foundation

The estimated base salary range for the Lead IT Engineer, End User Computing & Lab IT role based in the United States of America is: $118,200 - $177,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
