Lead IT Data Analyst

Do you have experience working with federated business analytic teams to clearly define strategies for data requirements, data visualization, data collection, data quality, data management and data analysis? Can you analyze and interpret large sets of data to identify trends and patterns in data? Can you maintain data systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of data? If so, this Lead IT Data Analyst position could be a fit for you!

Farm Bureau Financial Services is looking for a Lead IT Data Analyst to join the Data Management team to work with our business partners to define business needs and analyze data to gain insights. This individual will define strategies for data requirements, data visualization, data collection, data quality, data management and data analysis. As the Lead IT Data Analyst, you will create and support best practices in the data requirements and data quality controls. Also, you will maintain adequate documentation to support team processes and ensure we have completed the appropriate steps.

What you'll do:

  • Independently research, analyze, develop, document, and distribute business requirements for medium and large sized data initiatives.
  • Lead data discovery efforts using database queries and other profiling tools to collect and analyze large sets of data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insight to drive analytic decisions.
  • Assist with data visualization initiatives using expertise in data visualization tools, techniques, and principles.
  • Lead use case testing practice by setting expectation and providing accountability in the development, maintenance, and execution of data test cases/scripts to ensure business requirements are accurately satisfied.
  • Review PowerBI dashboards to ensure they meet coding standards and best practices.
  • Accountable for quality and reliability of data by implementing data validation and cleansing processes.
  • Accountable for compliance with data governance policies, regulations, and industry best practices to maintain data security and privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and business users to understand their data needs and communicate findings effectively.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings, following up with the business or IT and creating a clear understanding of requirements.
  • Keep data engineering manager, project managers and team members informed on statuses of deliverables.

What it takes to join our team:

  • College degree or equivalent required.
  • 3 + years of experience in financial services preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in data querying tools/languages such as SQL or equivalent.
  • Experienced in data requirements development and quality control.
  • Experienced using data analytics tools.
  • Experienced in data testing and establishing automated testing practices preferred.
  • Experienced in data governance processes.
  • Experienced in Data Visualization techniques.
  • Experience with agile SDLC methodology.
  • Experience working with business and technical partners across multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience leading medium scale data projects.
  • Oral and written communication skills appropriate to this position.
