About the Role

This is a high‑impact role at the intersection of customer insight, product development, and systems engineering.

You will translate real‑world user needs and behaviours into clear product direction, shaping how products are defined, built, and validated. Acting as the voice of the customer within engineering programmes, you will combine data, user research, and technical understanding to ensure products deliver outstanding performance and satisfaction at launch.

You will operate at a programme level, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding cross‑functional teams to make evidence‑based decisions that balance user experience, engineering feasibility, and commercial goals.

Why This Role?

  • Play a central role in shaping global product performance and user satisfaction

  • Work across engineering, data, and customer insight — not siloed

  • Influence senior stakeholders and product direction

  • Define and improve how user‑led product development is done at scale

  • See the end‑to‑end impact of your work from concept through to market

What You’ll Be Doing

Shape Product Direction

  • Own the customer insight and product satisfaction strategy for your programme or category

  • Translate voice of customer (VoC) data, user research, and market insights into clear product direction

  • Identify unmet user needs, behavioural trends, and opportunities for differentiation

Define & Influence Product Performance

  • Translate insight into clear product requirements and performance targets

  • Balance user expectations with engineering constraints and trade‑offs

  • Challenge and guide teams to make data‑driven, user‑focused decisions

Lead Product Validation

  • Design and lead user trials, validation activities, and product testing strategies

  • Ensure validation answers the critical product questions, even with evolving prototypes

  • Integrate user feedback, product data, and engineering performance to confirm readiness

Drive Cross‑Functional Alignment

  • Act as the voice of the customer across Engineering, Quality, and Commercial teams

  • Align stakeholders where user experience and technical constraints conflict

  • Present clear, evidence‑based recommendations to senior leadership

Raise the Bar

  • Define best practices for insight generation, experimentation, and storytelling

  • Improve how customer insight is integrated into the product development lifecycle

  • Mentor others and help build capability across teams

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can bridge customer insight and engineering decision‑making.

You’ll likely have experience in:

  • Product insights / customer insights / user research

  • Product analytics or data‑driven decision making

  • Systems engineering, validation engineering, or quality engineering

  • Working in product development environments (consumer products, technology, hardware, etc.)

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong ability to translate customer data into product and engineering decisions

  • Experience with user research, product analytics, or experimental design

  • Systems thinking — understanding how product behaviours and trade‑offs interact

  • Experience designing and delivering user trials / validation / testing

  • Comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data

  • Excellent communication and storytelling, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders

  • Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments and lead direction

Desirable

  • Strong statistical or data analysis capability

  • Experience in product validation, quality, or performance engineering

  • Experience working across technical and commercial teams

Experience Level

We are open to candidates with significant relevant experience (typically 5+ years) who can demonstrate programme‑level impact and leadership.

Who This Role Suits

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy combining:

  • Customer insight + technical thinking

  • Data + real‑world product understanding

  • Strategy + hands‑on influence

If you’ve ever felt caught between research, engineering, and product teams — this role is designed for you.
