This role is accountable for driving end-to-end infrastructure solution design, with a strong emphasis on middleware platforms to ensure application integration, scalability, and reliability across enterprise systems.
This position requires a balance of solutioning leadership and execution credibility. The individual will lead complex, cross-functional solutioning efforts while bringing practical experience from hands-on delivery to ensure designs are actionable, efficient, and aligned to real-world execution processes.
The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and influence, partnering across CTO architecture, platform engineering, security, and application development teams to improve decision velocity, reduce friction, and enable scalable outcomes.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead solution design engagements across LOB application teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise infrastructure standards and approved products
  • Drive end-to-end solution ownership, from initial design through onboarding, implementation alignment, and operational readiness
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional solutioning sessions with stakeholders including Application Development, CTO Architecture, WIMT Architecture, Security, Network, Middleware, and Database teams
  • Apply practical execution experience to ensure solutions are realistic, implementable, and aligned to existing delivery processes
  • Identify and resolve design gaps, conflicting requirements, and cross-team dependencies
  • Exercise judgment in when to drive intervention vs. when to leverage established processes, ensuring efficient and scalable delivery
  • Partner with engineering and delivery teams to ensure solution designs transition cleanly into execution
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution processes, reduce friction, and streamline delivery based on hands-on experience
  • Reinforce adoption of enterprise design patterns and infrastructure standards
  • Assess operational readiness including monitoring, resiliency, backup, disaster recovery, and incident response integration
  • Support lifecycle management strategy by aligning solutions to enterprise currency, compliance, and modernization objectives
  • Act as a connector across organizations, improving coordination, decision-making, and overall solution quality
  • Lead complex initiatives to develop infrastructure to provide solutions for business applications
  • Participate in various projects intended to continually improve or upgrade the infrastructure
  • Evaluate internal and external software solutions which could be leveraged to meet target state architecture goals
  • Review and analyze high impact outages to ensure the proper processes and procedures are in place to avoid problems in the future
  • Design, build, deploy and maintain infrastructure solutions through collaborative efforts with the team and third party vendors
  • Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices
  • Make decisions in technical designs, implementation plans and identify project risks and resource requirements
  • Direct the daily risk and control flow of operations, focusing on policies, procedures and work standards to ensure success
  • Recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and achieve results
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with customer and vendor
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure domains including compute, storage, networking, cloud, security, and middleware platforms (e.g., application servers, messaging systems, API gateways)
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex, cross-team technical initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience in both solution design and hands-on execution/delivery of infrastructure solutions
  • Experience working in large-scale, regulated enterprise environments
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong expertise in middleware technologies such as application servers, messaging platforms (Kafka, MQ), API gateways, and integration frameworks
  • Deep understanding of middleware design patterns including asynchronous messaging, event-driven architecture, and service-to-service communication
  • Experience designing and supporting middleware solutions in large-scale, regulated environments
  • Familiarity with middleware performance tuning, scalability strategies, and fault tolerance mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of enterprise delivery processes and operating models
  • Ability to influence decisions across engineering, architecture, and application teams
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including leading design discussions and resolving ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at a systems level, connecting infrastructure capabilities to business and application outcomes
  • Experience working across organizational boundaries to drive alignment without direct authority
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in ambiguous or evolving environments
  • Ability to balance strategic solutioning with practical execution realities
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing improvements in delivery or engineering processes
  • Prior hands-on experience delivering infrastructure solutions in enterprise environments
  • Deep familiarity with infrastructure delivery lifecycle (design, build, deploy, operate)
  • Ability to assess when to escalate issues vs. allow processes to execute as designed
  • Experience translating architectural intent into executable, supportable solutions
  • Demonstrated curiosity and practical experience exploring or applying AI, automation, or intelligent tooling in engineering workflows
  • Ability to identify opportunities where AI can improve solution design, analysis, documentation, or operational efficiency
