The Role

As a Lead HSE Specialist, you will share your expertise in a specific area, such as industrial hygiene, injury & illness, ergonomics, electrical safety, environmental, etc. You will also provide general health & safety advice and support for multi-product line sites in North America.

In this role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Advising Functional managers regarding projects, processes and procedures.
  • Preparing and updating site specific HSE policies and procedures.
  • Handling communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered.
  • Contributing to projects as a team member or leading small projects.
  • Responding to deployment to project site exigencies, emergency situations, or responding to incidents or accidents.
  • Attending safety committee meetings and functional roundtable workgroups to keep abreast of industry standard and emerging policies and trend to maintain HSE compliance.
  • Presenting HSE topics to internal stakeholders and external customers.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have at least a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field (or a high school diploma / equivalent plus 4 years of focused HSE experience in lieu of degree)
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of proven hands-on experience in shop, field or site HSE operations.
  • Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work successfully with people at all levels within the organization
  • Be able to show good problem-solving, process improvement and analytical skills
